With all the reports of bike sales being way up I think there will be some good deals out there for barely used bikes. Of course a lot of them might be eek-bikes.
    What do you guys think?

Have to check with the shop guys, but everything I’ve read is that the entry level is selling well. Not sure about the top end. The issues there are with Chinese supply chains, not necessarily demand. So I’m expecting a ton of bikes on the market that I’m not interested in.

If the economy doesn’t come back quickly there will be a lot for sale in a dash for cash.

I sold my Devinci, word of mouth in a few days full asking price no questions asked. But I do think in a few months people will be selling their bikes they thought they’d use.

There's always good deals to be found out there. Ya just gotta put the time in and keep looking.

All of the newb-types I've seen riding on the streets or on the trail tend to be on entry-level bikes or, very dated mountain bikes. Today at JPL I saw a lot of hike-a-bikers pushing bikes that might have been top-of-the-line circa 2005.
I do think that if the Urkle-nomic downturn goes much longer it may result in a "good time," to buy a lightly used vehicle. I'm thinking that all of the recent 6-7 year loans dealerships have been offering to convince people they can afford more expensive cars will put a lot of unemployed borrowers in a bad spot.

I think that good time is pretty much here. I don't follow the car market in general, but I keep my finger on the pulse of a few brands and types of cars. I'm seeing very low mileage in demand CPO cars at dealerships priced at >10% below KBB value with 48 month interest free financing. I don't know much about used car financing but I feel like that's somewhat unheard of. Maybe they're anticipating an influx of lease and loan repos.

If Hertz goes out of business, it's entire fleet of used cars will go to auction. Tens of thousands of cars.

Yikes, I'd be terrified to purchase a rental car regardless of how good the price was. Rental cars get abused.

I've rented a lot of cars and never abused one. I really don't think they are abused, and the companies have a vested interest in keeping the cars in good shape.

If you've abused cars you've rented then you may have a point. ??

I haven’t abused one in recent years. Many years back was a totally different story though. The one that was the most fun was when my sister got married in Tahoe so we rented two cars to head up there in style. Full on race the entire way with numbers duct taped to the door. Somehow we flew under the radar.

My GF is shopping for entry level bikes. She pointed out some entry level used bike. A year old, guy was asking for MSRP. Said he would take $50 off that price, nothing more. I told her to pass. It was listed as sold a couple of hours later.

I need to list my old Diverge...

I was just telling my wife last night at dinner, how I might be buying a new used bike in a handful of months. Explaining to her that all these quarantine newbies will be selling off their new hobbies in a handful of months. I follow a few of the local shops up here on Instagram. And, it seems like they're all posting multiple times a day about "new bike" pics. LOTS OF E-BIKES being sold. But, the shop out by Bootleg most of their "new bike" day pics are higher end bikes. And, the majority of those appear to be sold to newbies. Also noticed the increased traffic out on the trails and on the local FB groups. But, yes the large majority of what I'm seeing around here is entry level stuff.

One thing that got real popular real fast up here, is to bike the strip. Since the casinos have been closed down. There is very little car traffic and zero pedestrian traffic on Las Vegas Blvd. So, people have been "biking the strip", and I must say it is pretty bad ass. Lots of cool features to check out and all the sights in front of the casinos. Unfortunately it has gotten way to popular and the popo are chasing people off. Along with some of the casinos opening back up they are not allowing the bikes on the sidewalks anymore. I think the window to roam the strip freely has gone away.

More or less, the same abuse by me and my clan. We would rent them for Death Valley road trips and turn them in mis- aligned or worse. One went back with a bent tie rod. And we’d open them up on those barren desert roads.

    Ooh, what size?

I've been seriously considering putting my track bike up for more than MSRP to see if it sells. I looked at the same bike brand new and the expected delivery date from the company isn't until August right now.

My brother and I were driving to the ghost town of Bodie, using 4wd roads to access from Mono lake. We turn a corner and see a mid-nineties Chrysler stuck in some deep sand. Four people were standing around drinking beer. The trunk of the car was open and lined with plastic. The trunk was full of ice and Budweiser.
Turns out they were German tourists driving a rental car...

There is some guy on the Cycle Classifieds on Facebook, selling a 2020 Trek Checkpoint for $100 less than MSRP and I mention to him about the bikes price and he states that you can’t find them anywhere. Not cool to pull that crap.

Even worse is that he worked at a bike shop that was a Trek dealer and more than likely EP’d the bike. This is the kind of people that will come out of the woodwork in the next few months also.

I'm looking to buy a VRBO/Airbnb type property in the next few months...

    Preferred location:
Mammoth, Prescott Valley, Durango CO, Carbondale CO, Bend OR, Squeamish BC.

If the tourist business drys out for a year (or two) there might be a few nuggets in location I would wouldn't mind owning a second home.
