A new tire for you Aliso guys....

Saw this advertised on MTBR today...looks like a cross between a Bontrager SE5 and a DHF to me. Anybody tried one yet?

At $60 a pop I would try one. Specialized butcher was another minion DHF knockoff that was ok

 

I love the Butcher and SE5 and Magic Mary and DHF....I'm one of those people that isn't ultra picky about tires as I can honestly say they all seem to work relatively fine. There's only ONE tire that I've tried (more than once I might add) that I haven't liked for some reason and that's the Schwalbe Hans Dampf. I have one buddy that swears by it and runs it front and rear; I've tried both and it just doesn't work for *me*.

To me the Aliso looks like a DHR2 clone and the Romero looks like a DHF.

From the article... "new trail tire offering called the Panaracer Aliso, named after a famous Southern CA trail." The only "Aliso Trail" I know of in OC is the Aliso Creek trail, a paved bike path. Doesn't look like it'd be that good for pavement

A couple weeks ago out on San Juan trail, ran into a guy running Velociraptors (front and rear specific). Brought back some memories, used to run those all the time before Nevegals came out. Those were the days.... (maybe we'll say that about Minions in a few years?)

I noticed the same thing about Aliso; it's more an area than a trail.

 

Patiently waiting for the Floops to come out!... That's going to be a game changing tire!!!

Ah yes...the Panasonic Floop. Excels on flat, smooth, mangy terrain and for fetching milk and diapers from the corner market.
