As I have been hinting lately, Mark aka @doublewide and I are hitting Oregon to ride some good trails, I mean, really good trails.

I'll be posting daily to keep this report easier to report.

We left OC this morning @ 8:00.

    Passing Shasta Lake:

River trails around Oakridge...epic goodness! Stop in at Wilammette Mercantile, it's the bike shop there. Lots of free camping east of there along the river, but get your choice spot early

I don't know where to begin. When we called the shuttle service they were sold out. They run ONE shuttle on Fridays (it's three a day other days)! WTF??

Mark and I discussed going over to the shop and at least pick up a map and ask where could we ride even if we have to climb (yes we'll climb if forced...lol). The shop owner said he had one spot left and would squeeze us BOTH in. Yay!!!

I've never rode so much flowy goodness in my life!! We didn't just haul the mail we FEDEX it!!

    Riddled w excitement.

This is considered the DH trail. It's pretty steep and loose. Mark loved it, me?...not so much.

Man, so envious! It's been several years since I've had the opportunity to ride the PSNW and your photos are making me realize how much I need to get back up there. I second stopping in to the mercantile, the proprietor is a wealth of knowledge and gave us two solid routes. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy the ride.

Oh and how was BTI, the last burmy/jumpy part of the Ashland Super D track?

Get yourself up there and do MRT if you have not done it! if you go through Oregon and miss it, you are really missing out !!! take the shuttle up. the top section with leg chewing lava rocks sucks. but the bottom section is endless flowy awesomeness and so many log bridges you will loose count

With a 2 hour drive back to Oakridge and return, a $75 shuttle for MRT, @hill^billy, @doublewide and I have decided to ride in Bend and ride Wanoga Trails where we'll be hitting Funner and Tiddlywinks.

    Stay posted ...

We met, we rode, we had a damn good time.

With Oregon not getting dark until 9:00-9:30pm, we knew we had LOTS of time to ride. A high of 80°, riding through the trees, heat was not going to be an issue.

Meet time was 11:00 at the Wanoga Sno-Park. They have a cool lil pump track in the middle of the parking lot to warm up your skills. There was also a huge demo day w the works of Trek, Santa Cruz/Juliana, Devinci, Yeti and some I forget. Free shuttle ALL DAY. Yeah, we took advantage of that but only to get back to the parking lot. We rode 26 miles today. It didn't feel like it:
    IMG_20160625_112025619.jpg
We started w Funner. It got Funner w each mile:

Bottom line: there's too much flowy, fast goodness to stop and take pics. I ask for your forgiveness. Doug took video which he'll be putting up.

Our route was: Funner->Tiddlywinks->dn Tiddlywinks->Storm King.

It was such a joy to meet Doug finally. He, like many other IMTB'ers have said to me: I feel like I've known you forever. ... I felt the same.

Riding w talented riders makes me push even harder. Doug is very skilled even to the point I called him a show-off. He's that good.

This will be a bike trip I shall never forget.

Thanks for reading my report, getting envious, inspiring you to visit Oregon etc. There's certainly a different vibe here; like nothing bothers them. I think I belong here.

Great trip and posts, Rox! I love oregon. Envious, never ridden there but wife and I have been there many times on vacation. (she doesnt ride so our vacations so far are bikeless, and thats just fine...but someday...:) )
At some point we might move there..
An old riding buddy of mine moved to mount shasta a few years ago. He goes to Ashland about once a month, haha

    "Funner"- best trail name ever.

Pretty darn cool to meet Mark and Rox from our hood in So. Cal. in Oregon! I would ride with the two of them anytime when we get aligned! My internet connection out here in the sticks makes it a challenge to even get a post in, I also have to extract some pics from the GoPro so be patient. I got some good vid of the both of you! Mark your dust cloud makes for a foggy run but hey, you were flying!

As for yesterday I went out on my own for what I thought was going to be potentialy off the chart who cares if its solo, ride in heaven! But was disappointed with the massive amount of dead fall! Seems the forest service has been getting way behind and the locals are complaning, I rode appox 18 miles between the two trails some fire rode, and must have picked up my bike 60 times in a combined 8 miles of ST, stupidly thinking it would get better, still not a wasted day because the beauty of mother earth is EVERYWHERE here in Organ.
I was told by my local camping neibors that Lava Lake Trail went through 3 different forest trees, over streams and by 3 incredible lakes for a 20 mile out and back or it could be ridden even futher to who know's where, my kind of back country ride. The other trail was the Charlston loop, but I only picked up my bike for about a mile into that one. This place is crazy wild, and an overdose for the eyes! Tomorrow I will attempt Waldo Lake Loop and pray the trail is clear, seems the forest service clears the trails futher from Bend last.
