9/11 should be a national holiday

Just saying. I haven’t forgotten. Many did.

I agree, this day should be on the calendar. I believe Pearl Harbor is, no?

 

It's on the calendar, yes. December 7th. But not as a holiday.

There is nothing political about the truth. It breaks my heart to see our country so divided over PC crap. The silver lining about the days after 9-11 was the unity we all felt as Americans. I would literally tear up when I would hear the National Anthem. Goose bumps.

What a shame. Makes me want to drink again. Still holding strong though!

 

I wholeheartedly agree with your silver lining statement. AND, we need that more now than ever. The truth about the incident is what seems to be questionable, which is why it's likely not nationally recognized. Just like Pearl Harbor and many others.

I’m all for memorializing 9/11. Rather not have an extremist group earn a holiday on my calendar. Our citizens sacrificed their lives for their country on 9/11. We celebrate all these honorable people every Memorial Day, regardless of who the bad guys were.

Were it up to me, Veterans Day would be a holiday. I have never had it as one. I can think of a couple it could replace.

Agree. People who serve/served, both passed and with us, earned being celebrated by all citizens. Salute to vets! Every vet should get that day off.

I don't think we should have a national holiday commemorating an attack on our country. It is calendared as Patriot Day, and is recognized in CA public schools, as it should be. It is absolutely 100% cause for reflection. We had a video tribute today. Veteran's Day and Memorial Day are school holidays. Sept. 17 is Constitution Day - not a holiday, but recognized by law in CA public schools.

9/11 was real, not staged and not known beforehand.

Pearl Harbor was real. There is a possibility FDR pulled a Churchill's Coventry on it, but there is no definitive proof. Regardless of that, it was inevitable that the US would enter the war on the side of the Allies after that and the German blitzkrieg in Europe. War had been declared on us by Germany, Japan & Italy. Japan tried to take us out of play.

If you aren't conversant with WWI, subsequent Treaty of Versailles & how Germany saw that, and then WWII, then I suggest you study history.

Until more understand the underlying causes, well, there shall be wars, and rumors of wars, and nation shall rise up against nation.....

I posted this because I feel our nation has gone so far away from where we were the few years after 9-11.

Everything is getting canceled out by fascist and anarchist. People are more concerned with saving face and winning versus doing the right thing.

The flag we all saluted and stood proud for after 9-11 has now been hijacked as a symbol of hate.

All because of a bunch of butt hurt and bored people.

 

@solislbc - don't let the yammering class get you down. The fact remains that there is much yet to admire in the these united States. We simply must be cautious that we do not allow old man Europe, who is on his last legs and gasping for breath, to lead us down that path of no return.

Going forward we need to adhere to the words of Dr. King - let's judge a man by the content of his character and not by the color of his skin. Unfortunately, there are too many people who still want to divide by color and heritage.

I'll let you determine who those are.

When we get to the point that a person is judged by how they act, and by no other metric, then we will have achieved our goal.
