Hey everyone who is into XCO, the Olympic XCO races are being broadcast on TV. I think the Men's race is on at like 0100 AM PST tomorrow morning, and the ladies race the next day. Check your TV provider, search for it and set to record. The Tokyo track looks pretty gnarly and should provide some great racing!

#2 is going down in Olympic history after what happened in 2016... Not the way she wanted to. But I don't agree with allowing radios. #3 kept track of the score just fine, and at that level, I'd expect them to.

Excitement in the men's race... And some agony of defeat, with a touch of irony thrown in.

I couldn't wait, so I ended up reading a lengthy article... And then another couple in German!

I'll watch it later... If it's anything close to the description I read, it was a true Olympic race.

I can't watch, but saw the highlights......looks like a few of the ladies had some issues along the way.

The top 3 finishers though, not completely out of the norm if you follow XCO World Cups.

Jolanda totally missed the ramp on the second lap. That could have been catastrophic.

That was a little confusing... I can see the brain fart. The ramp was there for their practice runs, but gone for the men's race. It was brought back for the women's, because of the course conditions.

Soooo, there really was a ramp?
Yikes. Part of the reason why I like to climb McGill. You never know what people have done to the large tree trunk roll overs on the lower side. :geek:

    Yes....and no.

It's racing.....if you follow too closely, then you gotta be prepared for something to go wrong. This was first lap, no? Sounds like she was irritated that PFP brake checked before the drop, and Neff was too close to safely slow down behind her.

The move on the climb, there was nothing dirty there. Plenty of room.

    Racing is racing.

Of course you are on her side.

I do venture to disagree amigo. Racing is racing. It’s why they get paid the big bucks. Adapt and overcome. I have brake checked racers riding my azz inches off my rear tire in tech sections, as well as scraped them off my left or right side using a tree to do my dirty work. I’m there to win races. I’m not going to cheat, but I’m going to get the job done, since they would do it to me. :sneaky::thumbsup:
Her post ride report is no way to be a professional. Sounds more like whining. Just my opinion.

I guess mountain bike racing is dirty in more ways than one. Most forms of racing, brake checking is frowned upon. I can't imagine getting brake checked going into turn 8 at Willow Springs at 150mph less than a foot off the rear tire in front of me. I wasn't trying to be argumentative but I'm sure Neff was expecting her to do the drop and not check up.

I imagine there's a little bit of pressure at the Olympics. You're not just out there for yourself and your team. You're out there for your whole country. I'm sure emotions are running high.
