9:10... And it's still 37 degrees at elevation in Wrightwood.

Looks like I'll be carrying some extra clothes for the first few miles again...

If the wind isn’t blowing on ride day, it won’t be that bad.

Remember the climb back up from the bottom of Manzanita is gonna feel like 110* no matter what.

Yep... The only thing I'm debating is whether or not to put the dropper back on for Manzanita.

Isn't WW dedicated ups and then downs and then ups and then downs? No undulating trails, so you can adjust at each interval without having to readjust mid-trail, yes? If your dropper is hydraulic, and not a BikeYoke, use the manual post to save weight and ensure reliable operation, especially if the temps will be in the 30s.

And that's exactly where I'd like to end up... But I've gotten used to the damn thing! :D

This is really all mental, because the first time I did this ride, it was on the race Highball with no dropper and 500 gram bald tires. Those were the days...

Incidentally my only serious seatpost failure was on Leprechaun when the seat bolts on my KS post snapped. I had started the ride over at South Fork CG so I had a bit of a haul to get back with no seat. Had to climb back up to Jackson Lake then up Boy scout standing and grinding the whole way. This was before I'd done WW50 and I hadn't seen updates on Manzanita conditions in years. Was also getting into golden hour but I decided to go for it rather than retreat down the road and have to pedal back up to the CG. Turned out great as someone had been working on Manzanita.

A week away.....temps look to be typical.....37/66 with a light breeze. Although the climb out of South Fork Campground back to Boyscout is probably gonna feel about 30* warmer than that.

I’m trying to decide if I should get new tires before this ride. Seems like all the pavement riding will be easier on my worn tread.

Worn out tires are fine. I’m swapping my 2.4 Rekon for a 2.2 Rekon Race..and that looks like it barely has any tread on it.

I did it the first year on skinny bald xc tires on the sketchy Highball... It was fine, but I know better now. :D

I'd probably go with a 2.2 on the rear, but my tire supply on the wall is getting thin. I'll have Rekons in 2.4 front and rear.

And... The most important thing to know about the Wrightwood 50? The bathroom at the gas station opens at 6:00. I double checked the hours... Just in case it's needed. :Roflmao

The only trail that you might miss tread is Manzanita and it is overall im great shape as well.

IIRC....I had a high roller 2 on the back of my 27.5 rocky mountain and that thing on the rear is a slow rolling tire. So much resistance. Took it off after 3 rides.. and put on a DHR. So much better.
