I tell ya what @Mikie even though a huge part of me wants to do the WW50 (just to prove I can) my right knee lately is thinking otherwise. I say while these folks are all suffering and pushing their bikes up Acorn you and I should go try and find those ancient Indian caves down past the bottom of Plato creek and then somehow re-connect to our Cherry creek epic route and not get shot in the process. I already know you're in and we got plenty of time to research it.

Well... The elevation is only 1/2 per mile what it is in WW. Strap two cinder blocks to your bike and we'll call it even.

I thought you liked epic backcountry rides. Are you saying Tailwind can't pull you through this one? :sneaky:

The Wrightwood 50 is no backwoods epic. It’s a combination of the worse ideas they could put together in Wrightwood. There is a difference. :gotnothing:
Leave my Tailwinds out of it. :p

All, I rode the second half of the WW 50 a couple of weeks ago, and am planning to ride the first half tomorrow from Wrightwood over Acorn, Blueridge, etc. One tip I can provide from a couple of weeks ago was the knats were crazy climbing up the Big Rock Creek road. Highly suggest bringing a fly net or something to minimize that torture. It was brutal!! Manzanita was in great shape with small crossings and pretty rideable the whole way. I have to drive by Jackson Lake, if you all would like for me to stage some food and water by the lake. Also I can probably stash stuff at Vincent Gap, if needed? I know that there is a ice chest usually staged at that point. Just let me know if I can help the imtbtrails hooligans??

YEah, the bugs are usually pretty bad coming back up from South Fork Campground.

Erik usually posts up a cooler at the top of Boyscout.....with some goodies in it. Otherwise, in the route slip you get from him, it has the locations of available water.....mostly campgrounds, except for the 1 spigot across from the Prison Fire Camp.

Not sure if it is allowed, but, if there is no water at Jackson Lake, I will put a couple gallons of water. That way on your way up to Boy Scout from Leprechaun, you can refill and then again, if needed after descending Boy Scout.

There is water at the campground across the street from the Jackson Lake entrance. We have used it in the past.

The water is good at all the campgrounds.....the water in the spigot at the ball field across from the Prison Fire Camp just doesn't get used much, so if you are one of the first riders through, it can be pretty horrible. By the time we come through, it just tolerable.

There is enough available water that the ride can easily be done with two bottles. I usually go with the pack, though...

Looking at the start list... 24 souls signed up for some suffering.

I’ve been on an intense training regimen the last week. Pizza, chicken wings, souvlaki and eggs for breakfast, fish fries for dinner, and a few subs that make Rockys look like diet food... oh, and Labatts!

I’m good to go... as soon as I can stand up and buckle my pants.
