Bullshit I say. It went by my house a couple of years ago and I wasn't able to watch it. I've been hoping for another chance...

Apparently The OC isn't part of California.

But I'd like to do Stage 4. Just not with them. :gag:

I don't see any city in OC or the county itself putting up the hundreds of thousands of dollars to host a stage. Nor do I see much of OC accepting the road closures. I also can't think of what a good stage in OC would be. Maybe Santiago Canyon and then some of the 7 sisters?

A great OC stage would be HB Pier to Santiago Peak, across Main Divide to Ortega Hwy, back to POO.

That would take both endurance AND skill.

I've seen three different stages so far & have always found a way to tie it in with other rides (and a long weekend away). I will be heading up to Big Bear on Thursday afternoon and spend three days MTB'g or CX'g the hills. The time trial will provide optimal drinking opportunities for Friday afternoon.

I love it! I'm planning for Baldy (ride to the finish) and Wrightwood (ride to the start) 20k of climbing within 48 hs. I don't care who wins, don't know their names. I'm on my own adventure!

Pismo to Morro Bay is a 113 mile stage. But its like a 30 minute drive? Guess they are taking the long scenic way.

There are many groups doing Baldy on Thursday. I'm going from Glendora High School up GMR/GRR. Stop at the KOM just above the village. A friend will be there BBQing and handing out beers.
The peloton will go by and then I will ride up to near the ski lifts where another group will be with brats and beer.
Then watch the peloton struggle up to the lifts.
After racers are done ride/fly down Baldy and then back to Glendora.
Then might meet my wife and daughter in Pomona for dinner, or just go home and watch some hockey.
Should be an overall epic day.
Will I see Antler Guy, Sumo Wrestlers, Borat wannabes, German bar maids and more? Probably yes to all.
    Will I suffer on GMR/HER?
    YES!

They predicted that the race would hit Santa Clarita around 3:30 - 3:50. I left work so that I would be around 20 minutes early.

    Pfffffft!

Got there just as everyone was walking away from the finish line.

I was watching the live streaming video on my way, but of course their server sharted the bed just as they turned onto Magic Mountain Blvd :poop:

Best I could do was to get some snaps of the Maxxis BMX stunt riders. . . . .

That's sucks, the streaming worked fine for me, it was a great finish.
