Just renewing my membership… It was 91 when I left the house, so I knew the rocks on Lower Sam would be hot.

When I dropped back down, the temp was back to low 90s at the Horse Trail.

Nice try...no where near 100 degrees today unless you rode in the Coachella or Death Valleys. Those Garmin thermometers are ridiculous, especially under sunshine.

It was 91 on all the weather stations around the house when I rolled... The exposed granite on Lower Sam Merrill is always a lot hotter than that. The last mile below Markham was probably even hotter.

There are two sections on the lower portion that are hotter than any other part of the climb... I'll point it out to you on Sunday when you're lagging at mile 2.5 and can't figure out why.

The only thing I like at or above 100F is my bath.

Sunday is supposed to be a lot cooler. If we leave early-ish, the Mount Lowe Road portion has a lot of shady sections and is quite pleasant for climbing.

    You keep your bike.

100+ degree club that’s like 3 months of the year for me. I plan my rides to finish just after it hits 100°. In July and august of I get an afternoon that drops down to 100° I get a bonus ride.

Make it at least a 5-miler and a few hundred feet of gain, and it counts.
