Strawberry Peak loop

Ride Name: Strawberry Peak loop
When: Sunday 6/4/17
Time: 7:15am rolling at 7:30
Where: Switzers Picnic/Day use area - Lower parking lot
Ride Description or Details:
Switzers to Nature's Canteen ST, up Josephine FR to the saddle. Optional extra credit: Bag the peak at Josephine peak. Regroup at Josephine saddle before continuing on Colby Cyn ST towards the back side of Strawberry Peak trail ST.
Strawberry Peak ST to redbox where we can ride up to Mt Disappointment for extra credit, or we can just descend the Gabrielino back to Switzers.

This trail has moderate exposure therefore it is rated for intermediate to advanced riders.

Meet Location: If you have an adventure pass, meet at the lower lot at Switzers at 7:15. We roll at 7:30

OR if you don't have a adventure pass or would rather start 30 min later, park at Clear Creek junction where Angeles Crest Hwy and Angeles Forest Hwy meet. There's a small dirt parking area at the NE corner. Be ready to roll by 8:00am when the group from Switzers rolls up.

Ride Pace: Moderate Pace

Rider Limit: No limit
Anticipated Mileage: 20+ miles with extra credit options
Elevation Gain: More than 3K but less than 5K
Ride Duration: 3-4 hours
Previous Ride Reports:
Possible Bail-Outs: This is a loop, so the only bail out is coming back down Josephine fire road at the beginning. After that you're pretty much committed.
Facilities: Bushes, trees, rocks, yucca plants along the trail.
Food/water suggestions: Water at Redbox Picnic area after we cross Angeles Crest Highway. Other than that, bring whatever amount of water you feel comfortable with and whatever snacks make you warm and fuzzy inside.

Alex A, Alex F, Issac, Brian, Jose, Burt, Jorge came out to play today.
We had two guys with folding saws with us so we cleared all the downed trees on the Gabrielino between Red box and Switzers. Trail is a little overgrown in spots so wearing arm protection is a good idea.
