I'm going on a camp trip with friends and want to know the nature of the trails out there. Are they smooth and mellow, chunky monkey, or in between? I understand Noble Canyon is out there, but I want to know if there are mellow trails for beginners. Thanks in advance.

Most of the trails up there aside from Noble are good to great for beginners aside from some a few of the climbs that are short and steep (ie up/down Red Tailed Roost.)

Check out MTB Bills maps or you can find the trails on Trailforks.

Cuyamaca is decent as well although the trails are a bit more difficult for beginners than Mt Laguna.

I ride and camp there a few times a year. As others said the meadow around lake laguna is great for beginners, my 11 and 23 year old have been riding it for years. You can drop down noble and have your friends meet you at frosty burger for lunch. Also above the meadow you can ride aqua dulche and los gatos ravine. There are plenty of features to keep you busy.

Rode from Burnt Rancheria campground through Lower Red Tail Roost to Laguna Meadow to Noble Canyon with the Smeegies on his first big ride on his first big bike (2015 Cannondale Jekyll 2). Haha! Smeegies cut his tech on Noble Canyon, and he crushed it!

20 mile shuttle ride transitioned from smooth, buff, beautiful flow to pretty damn chunky, holy moly, throughout the day. Not too warm, and we had the slightest drizzle whilst the meadow to make it oh so quaint. More photos to follow:image.jpeg

Do you know if the water spigot at Penney Pines(top of Noble/Mt Laguna Meadow) was running or not?
