National Flag Day Ride-Tuesday 6/14/2016

I've been a little obsessed with the '3 flag ride in the santa ana foothills' lately 'http://www.imtbtrails.com/forum/threads/three-flags-ride-in-the-santa-anas-well-almost.4513/
and I'm planning to give it another go on Tuesday, being that it's National Flag Day. (Note: this is not to be confused with the 'replace the Fossil Hill flag' group ride that is still in the works for some future date).

Tentative plan is start from Cooks Corner, STT to Fossil Hill Flag, down to Top 'o Luge flag, up STT further then down Cadillac to the Trabuco wash, up some un-named singletrack to Bell View, then the HAB up Bell Ridge up to the flag up there. Down Ding Dong to the wash and complete the loop through O'Neil. Optional start point is the Trabuco wash, but same route (@mike may be able to rendezvous if you're available).

Estimate 25mi, 4k ft, 4-5 hours with breaks. Some technical DH sections, mostly steep/looseness, on Cadillac and Ding Dong, and the hike-a-bike up Bell Ridge (which I'll give anyone a dollar or a beer if they can clean them). Edit: Easy/casual pace (I'm a slow climber), breaks and regroups as needed, just an adventure ride, not chasing time.

Thinking 7:30 start, but can do earlier or a little later. LMK if interest for you weekday riders!

This could still go a few ways @mike. We could start at the wash and do the Ding Dong loop first if that helps with your errand. My goal is to find a dirt route up to Bell Ridge instead of all that tarmac through Robinson. I'm thinking the start of our climb to Bell Ridge will be where DD dumps out at the wash, which is just across the way from Cady.
Will keep you posted, no sense in firming anything up too soon

 

This sounds like a fun ride. Wish I could join but can't ride during the 5 day work week. I sure you will complete your mission this time. Have fun.

 

I was thinking about playing hooky and joining you... (well before Rox signed up ) but then my wife said that tomorrow is volunteer day at the kids school. Which means that if I play hooky for anything other than helping my kids I'll be way up Sh!t creek w/o a paddle. C'est La Vie, enjoy the ride

 

Confirmed 9am start from Cooks. @mike, best WAG is 11:30 coming down Cadillac to the wash. Hope to see you there... or you can always pedal up Cady and meet us half way

Okay, base of Caddy at 11:30.

If I'm not there at 11:30, I got an unexpected fire to put out. Looks unlikely, but FWIW. And if you hear an ape call through the canyon, I'm running late and on my way. Analog all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Just think, if Dave and I had EBikes we'd be there at 10:30 and leave your a**!! Hahaha.......

 

Bummed that Rose Cantina doesn't open until 4, a taco and beer would be welcomed fuel to get the Ding Dong loop and us back up over O'Neil. Might have to settle on Cooks at the end...

 

Just think, if you had motos you could ride to Ensenada and have tacos at Papas and Beer by happy hour!

That's ok, Cooks makes a mean hammy n fries plate. Their beer selection could improve tho.
