I took on the ministry of building kids bikes at our church. The goal is help them out often kicking in bucks to get their bikes trail worthy and then do group rides to where they can invite their friends. I have built several bikes. Often these are less than desirable frames I turn into 1x’s, adding droppers and engineering a cable routing. Cool stuff!

The one I’m working on now has a (diameter correction) 27.2 seat tube, yuck! He wants a dropper but wants more than a 125mm drop. I thought one up components made one but their site suggests they no longer make 27.2 diameter droppers.

Any suggestions on a good dropper to fit this desire?
    Thanks in advance!

With such a small diameter, you will have trouble locating droppers with more than 110mm of travel.

I'm not sure if it's a typo and you meant 27.2 diameter, and I assume you need external cable routing; if so, this is what I have, and it has been reliable on the four rides I used it beneath my heavy cheeks.

I DID mean 27.2! I don’t know why I posted 26, thanks. I have been modifying the frames to accept internal routing (trust me, these frames will survive a nuclear holocaust!) thanks for the tip sweet cheeks chicken McNuggets!

Gravel bikes use 27.2 seat tube , it allows more compliance and some flex in the back for smoother rides. So....I saw this and thought I'd check it out. I can definitely use a dropper on the Grinder, but the SRAM axs that it's made for is over $600. for a dropper post!! yikes. So have my eyes open, and only want 80 mm drop travel or so. mostly because I'm short and nothing else will most likely fit. So, I'll keep my eyes on this thread. But then, where in the world does the lever go. I also think the a dropper on my bike might pretty much eliminate the rear flex ( 10mm) currently being enjoyed.

My thought on the 27.2 post is that longer than 100mm would introduce flex into the post and reduce reliability.

That’s a good point about the flex. Thank you for the input Brothah!
125mm is by far the max I have seen for a 27.2. Thanks for that link?

I haven't used them, but PNW comes highly recommended.
Some people that are 1x use a left shifter for the dropper.
PNW makes a lever for drop bars.

I received a PNW Pine as a Christmas present and fitted it to my 18 y/o Superlite. So far it's perfect.

I think the X-fusion dropper on my Cotic is a 27.2. Been working pretty well since November '22 (finger crossed).

Ah ha!!! Search function got me a bullseye tonight!! So after measuring I think 125mm might be perfect but, I'm sure 100mm would be fine. Found both and was kind of on the fence as far as which to buy. They are only $10 apart, but I would rather steer clear of flex. 100mm it is!! Thanks @Danimal:thumbsup:
