Your cassette lasts 12 years? Do you have several bikes that you rotate or do you just never ride? I ride about 30-40 times a year and I have to replace my Shimano cassette at least every two years.

For the last 12 years, until last year, I had a 2 bike rotation and rode an average of 2-3 times a week. One geared bike, the Anthem, and the other a SS. Most of the rides were mellow and not “race training” efforts. Drivetrain on the geared bike is XT. Maybe it’s how I ride, the maintenance, where I ride, or the combination of all these that makes the parts last longer. I don’t really know. They just do.

@DangerDirtyD rides tires older than your drive trains.

If I get a year out of a cassette, it's a win...

Now that I live in the mountains and not the cement jungle, I know my parts won’t be lasting long.
I do change my tires every year, if not sooner. There’s that.

years of design, FEM, litening holes and it looks like the derailed I have had on my bikes since 1960. I thought there would be a quantum leap in technology. Giant cassette rings but the top end is limited by the tiny chain ring and the 10 on the back
