    More input is needed. How much do you weigh... How much offroad do you intend to ride? The 350 motor is screaming at 65 MPH while the 500 is not working as hard doing the same speed. You need a skid plate, Scotts Steering damper (or equiv. ) and ditch the stock tires for more offroad riding tread pattern. Buy a good helmet and get a Garmin Inreach. The Garmin Inreach for emergency services and also to send a message to the wife to heat up the jacuzzi.

    You could gear the 350 for more top end, but it would suffer trail riding with taller gearing, it would be "funner" being lighter.
    The 500 would give you all the power you would need.
    I decided on a 500 for all the trails up here in the mountains and an occasional ride to town.

    Are you looking to go dual sport(street legal dirt bike)? When you say new rider are you talking new like never ridden a dirt bike new? Modern 500 4 strokes are a lot of bike with gobs of power(yes it is controllable with your right hand but you'll use it anyways) and they ride heavier than the smaller cc counterparts even though the scale says they weigh basically the same. Ktm's are great and you can get them in several flavors like orange(KTM), Red(Gas-Gas) or White(Husqvarna). They are all very similar as KTM owns them all. You really can't buy a bad bike these days. from the European or Japanese brands. That said I would take a good look at the Beta brand of bikes just cause I like something different and they build some nice stuff.

    I like the Scotts Damper too...:D:Roflmao:thumbsup:

    @Cornholio happy to help.

    I've had a modern 500, 450, 350 and now a two-stroke 2020 Husky 300 with fuel injection. For tight, challenging single track riding, I LOVE the 300. It's the best of the trail bikes. KTM has just released a new series of bikes and when they do, it always begins with the MX and more aggressive XC bikes. The new technology will make it into the Enduro and trail bikes this time next year as 2024 models. Happy to chat here or via phone if you'd like. KTM and their brands (Gas Gas and Husqvarna) are superb motorcycles.

    Coach specifically said no pictures on the course, but I went off script and took my phone for the parade lap... This was around mile 130, so I figured it was ok. :laugh:

    Looks like that will need an extra large slice of bacon to fix!

    That happened to my wife last year with only 4k miles on her new truck. She had no idea what she hit.

    Looks like you may be ready for new tires anyways?

    This was on my wife's commute this morning, there was a rim in the middle of the freeway, no room to swerve... you know how it goes.

    Not sure what's up with the tires, they only have 25000 miles on them. But a flat in the summer from a nail and the guy said they needed to be replaced then as well.

    I hear you on debris on the freeway. This happened about a week ago. I was on my way home and heard the crack but didn't see anything until the next morning. I wasn't even behind anyone when it happened.

    I recently dodged an aluminum ladder on the 55 south. It blended in well with the freeway and the light conditions, and I barely saw it in time. I swerved just in time. Fortunately traffic was reasonably light and I had space. If traffic had been heavier, I would have had to hit it. At 80 MPH it would not have been pretty. :eek:
