I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Camped out in a jury room downtown at the moment

Edit to add: Good news is that I am already back home 2 hours later. Bad news is that I have to go back on Dec. 5 for jury selection on trial that is estimated to take as long as 4 months. Worst case scenario, I get picked and then selected as jury foreperson.

 

Been there. Done that. But only 2 1/2 weeks.

It was fascinating. British citizen rents a Harley with his mates in Chicago, gets hit by a car on the 405 in OC, the woman stipulates to be at fault, so we were simply determining damages from 0 to the requested $3 million for loss of productivity and "enjoyment of life." Mind you, he had a shoulder injury and some minor leg or hip involvement. He could walk, sit, stand and use all of his appendages without any kind of apparatus or brace. In other words, he was in the same condition I am after a typical mt bike crash.

The friggin' jury wanted to give the dude all or most of what he was asking for. I had to use the logic that he was participating in a relatively risky recreational activity, not essential transportation. I also had to use the analogy that if we choose to ride a dirt bike and crash, or go skiing or mt biking and crash, we may suffer similar injuries and similar reduction in employment options and/or "enjoyment of life" - but we have no one to sue. It's a risk. I believe we awarded like $500k. I wasn't able to get the jury lower than that.

Good luck! If you do get empaneled, I hope it doesn't go too long.

 

Thought this would be the weekend to hop back on... but picked up something as I woke up Friday morning feeling like I didn't digest any of the dinner from Thursday evening. Friday afternoon hit with achiness and chills... then Saturday and Sunday just bad nausea... no puking though.. just felt like crap. But hey... it's a long weekend coming up.. so maybe...

 

Moosifer climbed up on my chair and wanted to play a 125# lap dog. I tried to get her off the chair to go for a ride,but she wouldnt budge. She is not a kissy dog like the German Shepard and seemed worried about me. ? ? ?
I finally got her off the chair about an hour later. The wierd thing is she wouldn't budge until I told her I wasn't riding.
A couple of hours after I started to feel sick and that's why I didn't ride today.

I think that is now officially my favorite name ever for a dog!

Oh - and I "surfed" today, so didn't ride. Surfed is in quotes because it wasn't a very good session for me.

 

I cleaned my baseboards today. I shampooed carpet today. I washed my front porch today. I hung Christmas lights today. I fixed the drip irrigation in my backyard today. I watched DTR throw 3 interceptions today.

Almost ready to host Thursday.

ready for USA-Wales on Monday. Serginho better heal up, I’m not sure my nerves are ready for Scally or Yedlin at right back.

 

I missed riding the last two weeks for the best reason - my son was married in Kauai. Yesterday, I completed ALL the honey-do's and this morning......

.......the doggy tag team of disruption and mayhem, Maverick and Cash got spooked, spun around and crashed into my knee. I'm 6-1/2 months post surgery and that hurt soooo F'g bad. I'm sitting here ready to pout all day long. I tried riding the stationary bike and it ain't going to happen today.

Well, maybe tonight.

 

Because I rode my Blizzard Bona Fides instead.

 

New ski day?

 

Nah. Got 'em last year. Then ruptured a disk on my first day on them. Skied them three more times last year, after I recovered from my back surgery.

Thanks, I hope I do too. So far it's not like a cold and not like the flu....more the worst parts of both and has thus far set the record for worst sore throat to date.

Yep, just finishing up my 2nd lap with the cooties. Should be getting back to work tomorrow.
This one was a walk in the park compared to the 1st one.

it rained for at least 10 hours and things need to stiffen up

 

Rode Dos Vientos Thursday and Triunfo Friday. What little mud there was, was easily avoided.

Aside from the rain falling from the sky, I'm at Toyota having the first service done on my Corolla. Multi-point inspection and tire rotation. At least it's free.

Edit: I ended up riding my gravel bike on the road. I didn't get wet. It was fun.

Was hoping to ride Maple Springs today but Silverado was under Vol. Evac. Went on to Harding and parked in the empty parking lot. Took a little hike in the rain to survey the conditions . Found the very- red mud to be unappealing and only went as far as to where the shoes would be caking up with the stuff.

 

Got a good rain last night. Ground needs to breath for a couple days. Anything now except a couple places will be plagued by clay sticking to the tires.
