    IIRC Nick is learning to drive and has the Tomb Raider posters. How stoked would he be with this;

    I did not ride my bike for the last 10 days. Got back to LAX last night. Yesterday I stopped by a bike shoppe in Hanalei. I asked about mtn bike rentals, maps, trails etc. No rentals, no maps, lots of trails of which I knew none only names like ah ha ah ha ha ha. I asked about Power line trail. Nope, I said it has two labeled trails that parallel it. String and Road to Road. He said oh yes we are having a 5.8 mile race up there on Saturday. I said "over the top to Kapaa? Nope they closed that. I had hiked 2.5+ miles the day before and turned around where the trail went into a tall grass stream crossing about 50 yards wide. It seems I walked the race route except on the "utility road", not the single track. It is about the only way through the tall thick undergrowth with the single track lacing back and forth across the road. At least if you crash you will not hit the dirt unless you fall directly on the tread.
    So still no mtn biking in paradise, but they are getting close. There are some legal trails, just you need to bring your own bike
    Aloha

    I did check out other rentals, they have beach cruisers, tandems and E bikes, no aggressive mtn bikes

    A 5.8 mile race? Did it at least have 5800ft of climbing?

    naw but they have high humidity which adds 2500 feet. You sweat but it does not cool you. Power line was the longest North Shore trail I could find that did not require reservations. I thought it would be a 5 mile out and back, I could have found a way around the much with some 2X8's and a machete. I was traveling lite. I thought it funny 5.8 not 6 miles

    I had an aura in my vision this morning too - which usually just manifests itself as an ocular migraine - no head pain - and usually clears within 30 minutes. I arrested this morning's before it blew up my vision. Phew.

    Sorry to hear that you have these fairly frequently. Dreadful.

    Because I ran a 10K instead. A little on the warm side at about 80-82, but I ran a trail through the trees so it wasn't that bad. Burned up my dog, though. Dash is normally good for a 10K but the heat slowed her down to my pace :) When I got back to the car she got all my water :)

    Tomorrow I'll be riding new dirt in a brand new bike park with 18 miles of trails! Just on the other side of the lake from me! Hoping to have some pics and a RR for the site.

    Where do I start? Well cuzz it was 100° today, had to work as the shop is going to hell in a hand basket( 1 had hip surgery, 1 had a run in with the law and one parked his car upside down in a ditch and broke 3 vertebrae), the wifey has book club, the kid needed shoes, I walked the dogs early for 5 miles and now Smokey and the Bandit is on. If that’s not good enough I’ll make up some more excuses…

    No. And I have a thing that resists the prep so I get SUPER PREP!!! And it still is barely OK (for the Dr., not me). One polyp today. Wait now for the path report. Last time it was an adenoma which is what my pops died of at 42 (big C of the colon). So I will take the prep, shut up and bank a couple more years of life.

    I much less concerning reason to avoid riding bikes (in addition to the heat): Full refresh of the cooling system in Firstborn's car. It's a 2007 w/ 182xxx miles on it, so it's time! Water pump and T stat seem fine, so I'm ignoring them for now and just doing all the hoses. Also oil filter housing gasket which is notorious for leaking. Also VANOS seals might be leaking, so those just for funsies.

    Great news! I'm hoping for the same. My sister was recently diagnosed with rectal cancer. She says the cancer is outside of the rectum. Unfortunately no chemo or radiation yet as she has heart issues she's dealing with.
