So my son has become more into jumping these days. (don’t blame him, it’s fun as hell). But came home the other day with a broken seat, you know JRA. Lol. So he wanted to ride and told him he couldn’t until we got a new seat.

He whined a bit, so i told him there was an option and pulled this out

It’s off of his very first bike. One of my favorite mottos. “Improvise and adapt”

Ha ha ha! Love the pics of desperation! I misunderstood… I thought from the title it was asking me how far I got to go to get a ride in. I thought it was a “City Person” question related to how far I gotta drive to hit trail! Lol!

I have left home and drove many miles without bike shoes and simply turned around and went home, forgot my helmet once. If the weather is bad I’ll go home and drink beer. I guess I am motivated until conditions out weigh my enthusiasm. I don’t think I have ever McGiver’ed my bike to get in a ride. I certainly have McGiver’ed it to get back to a trailhead!:cool:

You guys with such clean bike shops in your grave!!!:p

    I thought the same thing.
I will say, my first time at the Luge I got there and realized I had no helmet. I ended up riding STT and the Luge for the first time with my long raven locks waving in the breeze.
Not the smartest move, but, I was maybe 21 at the time.

I've driven many miles to a trailhead, only to realize I forgot my bike-specific shoes, and said "whatever. I'm riding."

It did not suck. It was just not nirvana.

It is a bit vague, I’ll admit now that I’m rereading it. It can be a dual meaning post. Both are welcome

And for the record, one my garage is not that clean. Far from it lol. And two there is no such thing as “too far” to drive for a ride. Time permitting

The saddle is fine - but I hope you are using a spotter when you are bench pressing that much weight! :Roflmao

I always have a pair of flat pedals and a spare helmet in my car. And water. The rest I can ride without. I did forget my bike once. But I realized it about 1/4 mile from home.

Nah. You guys can have your existential angst over which bike to ride and your constant work and cost to make sure multiple bikes are functioning as designed. I'm content with one bike and a bunch of spare parts to keep it moving.

Surfboards on the other hand = N+1

It’s good to have a spare bike. It’s even better to have an additional bike in the garage that has 100% swappable parts.
