Read carefully! I said only mt bike.

And yes @UPSed I have always maintained that SpEd makes good bikes. But I still hate the company. Well, hate's a strong word. How about dislike...

Hard for me to hate a company when I work for a company that makes said company look like a preschool bully.

I thought it was a Chisel when I first saw the pics... The only question is how long before you take it down real trails just to see? :p

Just needs a longer dropper and I’d try most trails although at a slightly different pace.

Not a Specialized guy but these are a pretty cool bike. I had to build one the other day and it was fun. I’d ditch the dropper personally. Enjoy your new ride.

Pretty stoked with how its come out. I think its a relatively simple bombproof build and if single speed life ain't for me I have a rear mech, shifter etc I can throw at it.
Hoping to test it out this weekend.

Wow, beauty meets function and fun. Congrats wrapping it up, Simon. Have fun getting acquainted.

Based on a rudimentary profile – doesn’t necessarily take the easy path, somewhat nonconformist – I’m projecting SS will resonate for ya. It’s not too different from my Dingo, loads of fun and a useful component of the quiver.

Just the 5's Dio, they were on the Whyte which is now retired to be an oddity hanging on the wall. I do need to lengthen the front brake hose, its a bit tight, but I'll probably leave that until I extend the travel on the fork (yes I'm thinking of modifications before I've even ridden it)

Yeah, they are the ones. Looking forward to hitting some dirt and seeing how they and the bike hold up.
Playful was a requirement I was trying to hit so fingers crossed I nailed the brief.

It took a while to gather all the components, but I wrapped it yesterday and went out on an inaugural ride this AM.IMG_1332.JPG

Very different feel with the long, low and slack thing going on. Climbs fine, descends great! Dialing in all the clickers will take a while, but starting off with the factory recommendations feels pretty good.

    IMG_1334.JPG

Gonna hit something fast and steep tomorrow and see what she's got.

Oh Snap. Great looking bike! Love the color. Also, my X2 felt almost perfect at Factory recommendations. I dialed back 2 clicks of HSC and I'm golden.

I know another rider on the forum who is rolling out a new rig, but seems to be keeping it on the down low. Slacker!

I think he (or she) is going to pull a "me" and try them back to back before deciding whether he (or she) is really keeping the new one.

I have Runts on my other 2 bikes and the Bronson Charger damper was tuned by DSD so I am pretty familiar with the front end, even though this is my first Lyrik rather than a Pike. Very similar other than a little stouter lowers. The X2 is new to me. I disliked the Float CTD I had on the Bronson and went to a McCleod and love it. HSC, LSC, HSR, LSR seem like a lot of work now. But for where I usually ride, it shouldn't be that big of a deal to dial it in. Have to say that burnishing the bushings on the Lyrik was well worth it. Very noticeably smooth, with no stiction apparent. May even add a click or two of LSC instead of wide open like on the Pikes.

IMG_1324.JPG Thanks Mike. It is so different to what I am used to. The 64* head tube produces this very noticeable low speed wheel flop. But the ability to turn by bike and body lean and not so much handlebar input is cool. And then the 800mm bars are so wide (although my others are 780 so not so much). A little subtler input to the steering with the added leverage. And the short chain stays, I thought I'd be popping wheelies all day on the ups but not at all. And the bb is at least an inch lower so I thought I'd be pedal striking it through the rock gardens. But didn't happen. Fun to feel it all and learn to adapt. Keeping mtbing fresh. New bikes rock!

I opened up the HSC and LSC one click to start with. I like less compression and fairly fast rebound. See how that goes and work it slowly around the dials.

I've been thinking about getting or building up a lightweight HT bike for several yrs now, more seriously the last several months. Something for XC trails/FR type riding. Was about to get a Scott scale from a guy , then took a last look on Pinkbike and the day before a guy posted his Niner RDO HT for a killer price. 2 month old carbon wheels, warranty frame replacement, fox SC fork. Went and looked at it and it was mine!!
    23 lbs.

    Nice rig.

And I believe it uses a EBB.....so you can dip your toes in the SS koolaid.
