I'm in Vermont this week, so i did a nice road ride through the country roads today. Well all the roads are country roads here. 57* at the 730am start, 67* at the 11:30 am finish:thumbsup:. Got to a blazing 74* today.

Saw this wet stuff falling from the sky tonight, I'm thinking WTF is that o_O?

Says it's high humidity, but at that temp very comfortable.
Especially as I came from Orlando which was 90+* and 90+% humidity, that was miserable.

I’m now stuck up in Big Bear. We had a super storm cell pass through a little while ago. Crazy lightning, intense rain, insane hail. Lasted for about an hour, almost 2” of rain out of it. We were stuck inside my car for a solid 20+ minutes due to deafening hail and rain. The street was a torrent. Hail turned the ground white. No power at this end of the valley.

It turns out that one of the lightning strikes hit just a 1/8 mile away from where I was staying. It hit a huge Jeffrey Pine and ignited it. My friend watched it burn and eventually fall. The FD was on it. He said the crash it made when it finally fell was unnerving. I had already left for home. He teased that I had missed all of the excitement. In the image, the top half had already fallen off.

One hell of a light show going on here in Orange tonight......

Radar showed a large red cell go over.

    Thunder and a long downpour.

    It was awesome.

Glory be, it’s raining in Truckee. :notworthy::inlove:

I got nervous yesterday when I saw lightning over Mt Rose Wilderness. Puddles now. This could bode well for the Forest closure ending AT THE ENDING DATE.

Autumnal equinox is Thursday, so the Black* shenanigans may resume. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the neighborhood of Hades, so it's just as well that the forest doesn't reopen until 0001 Thursday.

The offshores were howling in my hills this morning. Often I don't get the strong Santa Anas in this neighborhood, but the angle of the dangle must have been just right. Didn't affect my ride much except for my bano break. Which way is downwind?! Only 99* right now. Don't mind the dry heat that much. Lived 35 yrs w/o AC just a few miles north of here somehow so maybe I am a bit loco.

I will not be doing my traditional ride.
I was thinking of Wednesday as the last day of summer, but closure and all.
(Actual main reason is that I have no running vehicle)
Others, go ride as you please.

I’m with you, @Sasquatch9billion. F summer. Too many years getting cooked in the godforsaken desert all year long. I still love Phoenix. In winter…

It turned fabulous in Tahoe. Some lingering smoke but NTB. Highs in 70s and 30s-40s overnight. It’s on.

Happy autumn to all. To me it feels like waking up in the morning looking at a long, beautiful day.

I really like summer. Much More better than cold, but that's just me.

If I never had to wear a jacket again that'd suit me fine.

I determined through distance running that my ideal temperature for endurance activity is 35 degrees. Hell yes it feels cold at first. Extremities and lungs get a rousting. Then you settle in and stay fresh and strong without fighting dehydration.

Haha... that's how I feel about snow and cold.

Summer rocks. Warm mornings. Girls in skimpy clothes, light until 8 etc etc.

Downside is dusty and blown out brake bumpy trails. Upside, no freaking mud pits from hell or layers of clothes.

Now a little rain would be nice, but we're a month or 12 from that happening.

IIRC you're always saying that; it's 75 here in laguna :) I know, that way too hot!! :whistling::)

But then I ain't normal, or is it typical o_O
