So we were tooling along Golden Eagle today and @SS Barby announces "snake". This guy was well fed and not really interested in moving despite Johns efforts of tossing twigs and rolling rocks in his direction. That's when the patented @herzalot method came to mind. I must say while @Mikie may have looked a little goofy it worked perfectly...

Cool! Well executed gentlemen. Just curious, with all that room on either side, why didn't you just go around? Or maybe you just wanted to see if the method worked.

It’s never not worked for me, but today we had a new challenge. The stomp your feet, bounce your bike thing didn’t work for a coiled rattler. He wasn’t rattling, but he wasn’t moving either.

Not sure I like you calling it a snake dance though. Sounds a little... “exotic.”

Nice work. Even when you can ride around them, I still always stop and try to get them off the trail. Lots of oblivious hikers especially now, and plenty of MTBers seem to think it doesn't hurt the snake to run it over.

First fat rattler sighting in a long time. About 4' long with a Coke can sized midsection sunbathing.

Isn't it well documented? Originally developed in the late 1800's by Ulysses Herzalot, great Grandpa?

I guess they are out in force. Almost daily sightings on the Greer Ranch FB page. One guy claims he saw FIVE on one ride. No sightings in Northern AZ yet, maybe tomorrow in Sedona.
