Per DoubleWide's post above... Remembered Klaus Nomi backed up Bowie on his first SNL appearance in 1979. This Vimeo clip has the 3 songs he performed - The Man Who Sold The World, TVC 15 & Boys Keep Swinging.
"The Man Who Sold The World" was covered by Nirvana on MTV's Unplugged.

 

Right on! I've been a fan since the late 70s. Still have the Slug Line vinyl LP that I bought way back then. Of course it all really kicked in for him when Bring the Family was released in 87. Such a great album!

Speaking of aging musicians still putting out great stuff, it's hard to believe that Bruce Springsteen is now 71 years old. I'm really liking his new album.

 

This is customarily played in arenas when the home team wins a playoff series.

I recently posted a Ryan Adams clip here, in reply to the Foo Fighters subdiscussion. Made me think of this performance from a few years ago. Probably my favorite track from his "Prisoner" album. He does a lovely job of performing it as an acoustic version. So many tasteful embellishments with the hammer-ons, pull-offs, walk-ups, and walk-downs. Great song.

 

I typically wouldn't post in this thread as I have, shall we call it, a strange taste in music, and no idea about musicianship, but this guy is incredible and I felt the need to pass it along.
