Big Bear Skyline 5/16/2020 Ride Survey

Thinking of doing Big Bears Skyline Trail this coming Saturday. This is not an official imtbtrails ride and probably not considered a "social" ride (not that we would be unsociable) just sharing it will have some pace to it.

Curious as to who would want to go.
Meet time would be around 9:30am in or near the Snow Summit Parking lot.

No way I could make it if I get off at midnight on a Friday again. I'm off next week so could definitely make the 23rd.

 

Ed, I added the option for Saturday May 23rd in the Survey.

 

Cool. If it ends up being the 23rd Jennifer and I will be there. If it's the 16th I will do my best to make it happen.

 

Great! Now that Mikie has a hard tail, all we’re gonna hear about are the mangy rides with miles and miles and miles of fast paced buff.

I am in for this Saturday. I was planning on riding it this weekend anyway.

Okay you pinheads, as you will recall... I blew up the rear wheel on my Hightower. I'm not one for switching parts on bikes. I ordered a DT Swiss 350 32 Hole for a new Rim. It's backordered, when that comes in and I can get my wheel built, I will be back on Fluffy the Grey. But I do got to admit, I'm having a blast on this hardtail!

 

Me either. Especially complicated swaps like a completely different rear wheel.

 

It does get my vote for the sh!teatingrinniest back-up bike out there right now.

I hope/assume there would still be a more official, more social IMTB Skyline ride later in the Summer? I feel like this ride, at non-social pace, probably isn't in my best interest at the moment, but I'd hate to miss out on what was one of the most fun days of last year.

Just do it. Social pace is pretty much all I have on that kind of trail, so I will be towards the back.

I can ride up there THIS Saturday but probably not the 23rd.

However, we should ask a local up there how the conditions are before we commit this soon. Anyone got connections with a rider who lives up there???

23rd is leading by a landslide...

 

I really want to go. Just got to find out the home situation. Every Sat. for the last 5 in a row I have been gone all day. My wife hasn't said anything but I can tell she is getting irritated. I will vote later in the week.

OK, I concede. You guys go on the 23rd. The more time that passes between now and ride time, the less snow there will be up there.

 

There is no snow. The trail is open.

 

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. Was hoping that the ride would be a little later in the season so we could go camping. I am sure we will go up there again

 

Even if we don't have another official group ride up there, some of us will be around later in the season. I know I will, at least once, probably twice. BB is my other home during the hot season and so is SLO Town.

 

We're moving Courtney back home next weekend from her condo. I can't say about the 23rd yet.

 

Since it's not a social ride I'd join in a heartbeat, since I'm as asocial as they come. But I'd get dropped like a bad habit, because it's not a social ride....

 

Exactly what is a "social ride"?

 

If you can speak or grunt, but have to gasp for air every third word, it's still a social ride...
