    Joplin Trail Work

    Date: Saturday, January 18th.
Meeting Place: 7 a.m. at Black Star Canyon Road at the intersection of Sliverado Canyon Road near the Christmas Tree Farm (not the visitor's center). We will be driving up to the trail head on the Main Divide.
Bring: glove, water, snacks - lunch will be on the club
Please: let us know if you have a vehicle capable of transporting volunteers to the trail head at the Main Divide and the Joplin Trail head.
Don’t come: If rain is expected the work will be postponed.

We've had the same club volunteers show up for trail work the last two years. It would be great if club members who haven't participated in volunteer work for the club in years to show up and contribute. Please don't wait for the last minute to commit in the hope something else comes up so you can say your are busy.

    Thanks!

    BUMP.......

If they get enough people to help, they can knock it out in a day...otherwise, there is enough work needed that it may take multiple days.

I ride 427 miles a year, so to say I don’t have time for this is an understatement. However, if the wife takes the kids to mother-in-law’s house without my consent, and we can hang a few passerby moto riders from the oak trees while out there, I’ll try and make it.

J, what's the PO situation on Joplin? I'd like to volunteer, but PO & I don't get along much.

It's there....but more towards the bottom of the trail. The upper 1/2 is more buckthorn and sage scrub.

@mtnbikej and @Faust29 , any idea if this is still on for tomorrow? Chris had mentioned checking in with the FS re: gate @ Maple Springs. Thanks!

See you guys at Blackstar tomorrow morning. Jeans or shorts? Hiking boots or trail running shoes? Thanks! @Faust29, I may hitch a ride from you to the trailhead if that’s cool.

Tool up, soldier, you're going into battle! Eye pro, gloves and long sleeves mandatory.

Cover your wrists if you can. I've gotten nailed there by a yellowjacket and a brown or desert recluse – with long sleeves and gloves!

Edit: And long sleeves like mike says...

Glad to work on Joplin today. Split into two crews and worked on the entire trail. Pretty sure we cleaned up most of not the entire trail. Thanks to @mtnbikej for posting about this! Always great to give back to the trails! And big thanks to @Faust29 for driving us up and down the mountain. My first time going up it in a car.

Thanks for coming out. We got a lot done.

The ladybugs were going off.....there were seas of red. They also rained down on you if you shook the branches too hard.

I hate cars that drive up MS and Main Divide.

Fun, productive day... Trail looks great and the odds of being impaled by buckthorn are now significantly lower.

You might still be carried away by lady bugs, but at least you won’t get stabbed...

And if the snow returns, there is a sled for day use... it still had some ice from the last renter.

I will not offer an excuse, other than I suck and am a horrible, selfish human being. But damn the cat looks good!

Thanks gents (and ladies?) for doing the work so that others may benefit. I did my due diligence today by riding a trail that someone else built and maintained.

That's just the kind of guy I am!
