    Well...?
I went to the Audiologist today. The goal was to get the typical hearing test, determine how much more hearing loss I have, and seek solutions for my growing Tinitus concerns.

As usual, my hearing has declined in the higher frequencies, my “Selective” hearing is getting a little better as I continue to be a better husband, but no better solutions for the constant high pitch whine In my head. I left frustrated and fairly depressed.

We were able to put people on the moon in 1969 with a slide rule but can’t figure out why the high pitched constant beeeeeeeeep in my head.

    Signed,
    Very Frustrated

I've got the same damned thing going on. It's been consistent since my cycling accident in 2011. I'm sure all the Ozzfest concerts dint help, though.

Quite honestly, I find that riding my bike as far away (from the sounds created by humanity) as I can be helps to get this torture off of my mind. I suggest that you try it.

Spending the last 24 years around iron workers banging on steel, grinding, air arc cutting, and welding in big corrugated steel fabrication shops hasn’t done my hearing any good. When I was young, the mentality was different, it was tougher to go without hearing protection.

now I’m older and smarter....but my hearing isn’t what it used to be. It’s not a problem at the current time....then again, I haven’t had a hearing test in decades.

@Mikie I've got about 30% hearing loss, most of it hereditary. I've had constant tinnitus for over 30 years, but learned to ignore it.

    There is no cure.

I'm positive that's what you wanted to hear.:whistling:

Do you know if we are actually "hearing " a ringing as opposed to "sensing" a ringing. In other words, if someone with this condition was to go deaf, could there still be a ringing "sensation" experienced?

The Doc said they believe it to be neurological like a damaged sender as oppose to something actually audible.

So that "sounds" like the ringing would continue to some extent if hearing was to fail completely. That sucks.

Ah crap, you had to go a bring this up! I too have tinnitus and it comes and goes. Mostly I've learned to tune it out, but now that you brought it up my ears are going beeeeeeep..or actually more like eeeeeeeeeeee.
I'm thinking it's from to much loud music, shooting too many firearms w/o ear protection etc.

Now, according to my wife I have "selective" hearing loss. Only hear what I want to. :whistling:
But the reality is my hearing is pretty good in quieter settings, but get me around a crowd with lots of noise and I can't make out what the person next to me is saying to save my life. I'll just stand there, smile and look for a reason to leave that environment,.
So I do my best to avoid loud restaurants, bars etc and music that is too loud or highly distorted ( likes cooks corner live bands :gag:). None of those hold any enjoyment for me if I can't enjoy the social engagement aspect.

The "DV" in DV9 is actually the Decibel Volume. Perhaps you should have gotten the DV11!

Sorry. All kidding aside, I am sorry to hear of any chronic problem that impedes the enjoyment of life on a daily basis or causes discomfort. I would go cuckoo if I had a constant ringing in my ears. Best wishes for some sort of relief.

Full Disclosure: By the title of this thread, I thought you were looking for an Audi mechanic.
