It’s Santa Anita Canyon north of the 210 freeway. It’s chunky and exposed and a place @rossage underbikes regularly.

And what about putting a lousy rider on a decent bike? What is that called? Underriding? Subrolling? Belowbaseline? Wasteofmoney? Trailtraffic?

 

I think we call that "modern mt biking." Been to Aliso lately?

And @rossage is the poster child epitome of underbiking!

 

Tell @redwoods to bring the single speed up Zion.

 

No problem for him. He did the sam merril/echo mtn climb I think 2x in 2 wks.

 

Off 210 fwy at Santa Anita. Straight up north to Chantry flats parking lot. Climb up to Zion via upper Winter creek trail Then down the Gabrieleno on the dark side. Sweet techy single track . You would dig it.

 

I would - but my leash is a little shorter than that for tomorrow. Have fun! Oh - taking my daughter to Mt. High Friday - wife might come along too!

Yeah, it's in rough shape right now. Much of the climb up to Zion was demoralizing due to the excess vegetation, and quite a few bike-parqour moments on the descents. Still had fun! And got to try a new-to-me bike! SS Chantry to Zion? Not if I can help it.

 

I'd like to get in on the next one. Last time I rode Chantry was back in the early nineties. I remember it being pretty gnar with all the rock and exposure. And, a lot of narrow trail with jagged rock faces on the uphill side and 30+ drops on the downhill side. Dropping down a twisty tight ST that led to a campground and finishing with a super steep climb, but kinda short back to the parking lot. Good times!!!!!!
