Rider Down

hey hooligans!
Thought I’d share this so you can send some good mojo, energy, prayers,etc.
My friend Tom Lathrop took a good spill yesterday on the Cannell Plunge, he broke his femur right at the top below the socket. Surgery is scheduled for today at 4:30. He’s a good guy, some of you know him. He’s one of the riders who pulled my sorry arse out of Tapia May “18.

Oh Sh!t... a broken femur is no joke. Excruciating. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to make him comfortable and get him out of there.

I will crank up the thoughts, prayers, mojo, karma, positive vibrations, kismet, stoke and whatnot - whatever we can conjure to help Tom.

And as bummed as I am for Tom, I am that relieved it wasn't you, @mountaingirl sara. When I saw the title and author of the thread, I cringed. You've had your share.

Thanks my friend! Tom’s fit and is in good spirits, I know he’ll be okay, he just has a tough road ahead...we all know how well athletes handle down time

Wow, that's a scary place to get hurt because you can be a long way from help.

This is a big reminder for everyone to be extra careful on the upcoming Cannell ride. You do not want to get hurt out there.

So true, they wanted to airlift him out but he declined..his buddies helped him out the last few miles.
We will not have any such incidents on our imtb Cannell ride

The weez just reminded me that my friend got a big hematoma right on his upper thigh from his crash. Too weird!

 

Oof, good reminders to be careful. I can’t do another injury..no way!

 

Oh damn not Tom, he is really one of the good guys to come across out on the trails. I always say he's my pr maker whenever I follow him, lol. Strong dude I know he's got this

Do you know which part of the trail got him? Sounds like they were on the lower plunge portion?

 

It sounds like they were on the last few miles of the ride, I assumed that meant the plunge.
