Diamondback Catch 1 or 2?

Hey fellas. A buddy of mine is looking at picking up one of these models and asked me for my opinion, but I know nothing about Diamondbacks. He's simply trying to find a decent full squish for under $2000. His intent is mainly to cruise around on a full suspension bike, not to hit the bike park etc. He's more of a beginner.

If anyone can opine on the Diamondback that would be great, either good or bad. Or, if anyone wants to throw out suggestions for another manufacturer for a bike under $2k that would be great.

He would even be open to buying a used bike.

He's on the taller side, about 6'2", so he would need an XL.

For the same price he could get a Trek Fuel EX 5. Better components, better dealer options, better re-sale value.

In seriousness, I say the giant gets a vote in my books. Specialized makes great bikes, but they tend to use odd sizes, whether its special bushings, shock lengths, or the weird 142+ spacing from days yonder. Not sure on the current crop of spesh bikes, but Giant feels like it’s be easier to upgrade.
