It's not exactly the same HA (HTA) as the Fuel EX. The current Fuel EX has a High HTA setting of 67.7 and a Low HTA setting of 67.0 degrees, respectively (with 130mm travel fork). I assume that will change with the Top Fuel creeping closer in geo, though, as you do.

I added a 140mm travel fork to mine but with a 44mm OS, as oppsed to Trek's spec'd 51mm OS fork. Pretty sure that the HTA on mine is in the mid 66 degree range now. The shorter OS keeps it lively while relaxed a bit more and with added cushion.

Right you are, I should have said very close to where the EX is now. I

looks like these come with the 44 offset,

Apparently we are now a family of five and Rusty has a new sister. Wifey decided he needed a friend and rescued a 2 year old Vizsla named Cinnamon. She showed up just a few hours ago totally scared with her tail tucked and is warming up quickly and is definitely a lover. Gonna be a long road but this might just work.

My wife got a hair over 25 in the truck on the way back from San Francisco the other day... fully loaded with three people. I only got 23 on the way up, so I'm assuming the computer is broken. :whistling:

Umm yeah this wasn’t my idea however I was informed that I have my bikes so she gets her dogs. I’ve never had a female dog before but I can already tell she’s a good dog but had a rough life. Rusty is the one who’s gonna need the most work.

For road trips I can't complain. Five people, all our crap, a bunch of furniture, cruising at 85 mph. It's the 13 MPG around town driving that really kills! But so far we figure that even expensive gas is cheaper than having a third car for commuting.

No they aren't. All kudos to people who save these animals from being put down but I would prefer there were no need for shelters and no need for rescues.

    (1) Only buy an animal if you can guarantee a life-long commitment to it - or can be personally responsible for rehoming it (versus just abandoning it).
    (2) Only licensed breeders should be allowed to own non-neutered animals.

Too many people view dogs as disposable - buy them when they are cute puppies, and then drop them off at the shelter when you decide you can't / don't want to care for them. Makes me sad. Given the huge number of shelter animals - how many tards are out there buying/breeding animals irresponsibly? People view rescues as a positive... when I view the NEED for rescues as a huge negative - and a sign that we are doing something very wrong when it comes to regulating companion animals.

I’ve come across a few people/families who are habitual dog changers, meaning they get a puppy and love it for a short while then all of a sudden they just can’t get through life with this dog because it’s the dog’s fault of course. They give that one away only to be talking about their new puppy the next time I see them.

I really despise people like this and have no problems making smart ass comments about how long the current puppy will last.

I still have my dog’s ashes, the German shepherd/lab mix I just had to have when I was 5 years old. Played with that dog every day for years and she was my best friend until the day she passed. I could never part with a pet.

This is all obvious reasoning, and I agree with it. But sadly the world just doesn’t work the way we’d like so in MY humble opinion, until this world is perfect....rescues are the way to go:thumbsup:

Or, you could simply require that all dogs must be chipped and registered. And if your dog shows up at a shelter, you get fined $5000. Problem solved.

The contract I have with my breeder states that if for any reason I no longer want the dog, I am required to notify the breeder, who will come and pick up the dog at her expense - anywhere in the country. She is listed as a co-owner of the dog on the identity chip. If for any reason the dog is voluntarily turned in at a shelter (instead of being lost / found), I pay her a $5000 fine. She has fined one other dog owner... and the fine held up in court.

The truth is that US society has decided dogs are trash. They can be bought on a whim, and discarded just as easily. I don't agree. "Rescues" are not helping - they are enabling the problem. The entire term "rescue" suggests you are saving the dog from a crappy prior owner. I would rather remove the crappy prior owner from the equation entirely... instead of being held responsible for constantly cleaning up the mess they leave.

    She could?

I agree with your points, G, but it’s a noble act to commit to an unknown throwaway, and it should be applauded. I get that you’re being provocative. Until the system is fixed, rescues are the best. At least they’re one example of the best in human empathy.

Congratulations, @Voodoo Tom family on your new addition! A beautiful (and lucky) girl!:inlove:
