The struggle is real @Mikie @mike !! I hope you find solace in that you’re not in this alone. The snow has not melted from our yard and the trails still have snow and extensive damage from fallen branches and tree tops. Just to put tires on dirt had to go to Swan creek in Tacoma (not the most ideal spot) and do multiple laps of the same trails to eek out 10 miles. Praying for some rain to melt the snow away!

Sounds like we timed our little out-and-back to Bakersfield on Saturday just right - at least as far as the Tejon Pass goes. It was still complete gridlock from the Valley past LAX on the 405 - even in the carpool lane.

Coming home from Bakersfield, the first 100 miles took us 1.5 hours. The next 50 miles took us 2.0 hours

An interesting weather read... if you think we currently have it bad... People are re-looking at some of this historic weather because if it happens today it would truly cause $billions in damages.

I grew up in southern Oregon and I remember my mom telling me about horrific rains a few months after I was born in 1964. There were actually houses floating down the Rogue River. I'm happy with just a few inches a month during our "rainy" season.

Not really, we have a friend who works fed, lost 5 weeks of pay. Now they have to pay off the credit cards they needed to use, with probably no back pay.

 

That's odd. Foundation at the Ronald Reagan Library is government and they all got paid.

 

Maybe certain departments and positions are protected?

Yep... The snow was all the way down to the Robinson Ranch level. The snow down here was gone quickly, but I saw remaining snow on the back side of the peak on January 28th. It must have been really deep up there.
