Wanted: Santa Cruz Tallboy size XL, any year

Looking for a replacement bike as I love the fit of the 29er Santa Cruz Tallboy. I ride a size XL and prefer a 2015 year model (the year it was colored in flat matte with white SC logo on the tube).

I’m sure the fit of a modern TB will be pretty different than the 2015.

There’s usually a few of those older TBs on the pinkbike classies.

It's cheap because it Aluminum.

 

Other than a 2015 model, OP doesn't list what he's looking for. So presumed "cheap" was the extent of it.

Otherwise he should be all over the Backcountry deal.

 

There are numerous TBs of the vintage he cited, for decent prices, so I too am kind of confused as to what Eric is looking for.

I'm guessing wants a IMTBro deal.

New bike is sweet. Santa Cruz has a nice product. 2nd day on the bike in dirt so so did the Cook’s Corner to Luge. Nice short climb as I was on a lunch break to check out the gears and shock psi’s... I have to say the ‘Luge’ has not held up well in the recent rains. The bike climbs well, very well.... Only change i’m making is to my stem 50mm is to short, think I need a 70mm.

 

Cool about the bike, bummed about The Luge. We had that sucker tuned up to the best condition ever a few weeks ago. Oh well, back to work!

there was this dude at the bottom of the trail that was heading up with a shovel, pick axe and a smacher putter to do some trail repair. Blue Outback w/ bike racks. His english was poor yet I got the fact that 'bikers should not be riding the trails after rains'..... I respect his work!

 

Sounds like a guy named Boaz who does a ton of work on that trail. he's been trained by Jim @kioti.

Can you elaborate on the condition of The Luge? Rockslides? Ruts? Trail collapse? Slimy?

The upper section (first 1/2 mile) is a bit slimy where the red clay is then the next section (with the nice cork screw banking) has had so much water go thru it that there is a massive rut down the middle of the trail. I kept my speed up and bunny hopped from one side to the other and stayed out of the rut. The lower part was ok as it get's better run off. The creek at the bottom was only 8" to 10" deep but you could see that at one point it might have been 2' ft deep. The trail is certainly rideable but the hour it took to get the bike cleaned up was not worth the 10 min ride down.

Nahhh, that's somewhere near my best time I think, under primo conditions. Maybe 3:30 from the flag to the creek. I don't Strava, so my only reference is when I chase those who do.

 

Yeah, hrz is fast, he's right there at 3:20/3:30. My best is apx 4:20 and typically about 4:45. Although Strava has me sometimes at about 20 min, so it's accuracy is suspect .
