As of right now, the loops are 40, 65, and 85 miles. While the longest route is going to be shorter, the actual routing of it is going pretty cool IMHO. Something we've talked about doing for several years is in the works for it!
As mentioned, the Seven Oaks Dam climb is part of the route, and that's very unique and special. No other event has ever had access to it.

I'm in. Signed up for the 66 just to ride the dam. I'll probably shortcut cuz that's a really big day for me.
I did it in 2015 and it totally kicked my butt.

I'm thinking about it... I was initially hesitant, because True Grit is the following week. Looking back at last year's calendar, though, I had a 6 weekend stretch that had 5 big rides. It might be a good "saddle time" workout.

It would be the hardtail with skinnier tires and gears for me... Poor man's cross bike.

There is always the option to cut any of the routes short! It's not a race by any means, so we encourage everyone to tailor it to their needs (time, ability, endurance, whatever). I was just looking at the tentative 100km route, and it would be very easy to lop it down to 50 miles and keep the dam as part of it. There's even a way to do a 30 mile ride and basically just go out to the dam and back, but that wouldn't be much fun IMHO. If you were local and pressed for time, that would be a cool thing to do, but if coming from out of town and wanting the whole shebang, well, you're doing it wrong!

Other than the dam, the rest of the route is going to be pretty "typical" of the RSR rides. Smooth trails, big views, back roads, a swing by Hangar 24, and avoiding industrial wasteland... all the good stuff!!! Other than the mileage & elevation, it shouldn't beat anyone up. This year we have been given access to a couple of miles of new singletrack from Redlands Conservancy which is great! We're also planning a different route up to Crafton which through a really pretty canyon. It'll be fun, and a little different, which is the focus!

Don't bring a heavy FS bike, you'll be miserable. A hardtail with fast-rolling tires will be fine (gears are good as well). A cross bike that fits 45mm tires is perfect, but that's how I roll!

Yeah, I'm a planner for the event, and a cheerleader apparently, but I sincerely hope a lot of you can come out for it and make it a regular IMTB meet up.
It's a very fun day on a bike. Hard enough to be a memorable event, but not so hard that you're miserable at the end of the day.

Our cap is 400, and we're at 281 registered, which is about 50% more than last year at this point.
If you are thinking of coming out and riding in the foothills, registering sooner is better than later!

Be sure to put IMTBTrails.com down for your team!

Skip the gravel bike and put some fast tires on your MTB... won't be perfect, but not so bad. Thunder Burts!
