Chantry to West Fork and back...

When: Saturday, Nov 2nd. at 7:30am
Where: Chantry Flats, upper lot.
Prepare for 23+ miles of sweet single track with a few miles of connecting fireroads. 3000ft+ climbing
The route will go from Chantry to the Mt Wilson Toll Rd via the Winter Creek trail.This section involves a heinous, and famous, hike-a-bike section. Once on the Toll road it is an easy 2 miles up the fireroad to Mt Wilson.
Kenyon Devore trail will take us from the summit down to West Fork campground.There, we will take a fireroad up to Newcomb's saddle (not Ranch!).
At the saddle we will take the Gabrielino trail back to Chantry. About 6-7 miles of mostly downhill, chunky, tight, exposed, and technical singletrack.

:arrow: We must start this ride early due to parking limitations at Chantry. If we start later, we can add 6 more miles of paved road to our total. 3 up and 3 down.

 

I'm in! Just need directions to figure out drive time, and, well, how to uh, get there?

We can go later but then we have to climb up a paved road for 3 miles. That would be interesting on a Saturday morning. You can sleep while Mikie drives. Dont spill your cereal!

 

Oh yeah, to get there use Google maps!
Take the 5 to the 210 east. Exit Santa Anita go north/left until the road ends. Look for the yellow van.
Wake up Doug, drink some coffee, go ride!

 

Nice route! that should make for a really fun day in the saddle. too bad I won't be in town for this. have fun ya'll! stay upright and don't look at the exposure!

Yah you do, haven't seen my buddy Rossage for awhile and I know he likes the good chit, so I'm going to have to drag my sorry butt up and out early. Let me know what hideous time and where to meet?

 

Don't worry Doug, you won't be disappointed. We got some guys coming from the I E and they are begging for am 8am start so that gives you an extra half hour.

 

Sweet! 1/2 an hour helps, I think I've ridden that 3 mile pavement with you the last time, shouldn't kill us.

I'm gonna assume you mean North Santa Anita Avenue which turns into Chantry Flats Rd.

Go all the way to the top if you can. If you see a lot of people parking on the side of the road then look for parking along the Road. Iwill be up top enjoying my coffee and "medicine".
