It's 20° colder than when I was up there for my ski vacation three weeks ago!

We got a break today for the MWBA pancake breakfast. It rained on me driving there and then it slowed to a slight drizzle and then it was on and off with periods of sun and then dense fog and sprinkles on the climb up to the Flats and during the fundraiser. It was dry for the ride down with hero dirt conditions for the blast back down the fire road.

 

Snowing right now near Truckee', 32°F. Tahoe Rim is getting hammered. 4-5" accumulation last night, ≤4" more next 48 hours.

Turns to rain through Memorial Day. A bunch of people are bummed about their vacation...

 

Rained and snowed in Frazier park most of the weekend.
Frazier Mountain and more importantly Mt. Pinos got brushed with snow meaning that McGill Trail is probably not a great choice for griptious cornering on singletrack in shady areas.

We were supposed to have a mountain biking and camping trip up there this weekend. I'm guessing we should pull the plug?

Yes!
By turning the engine off, it disappears. It is no longer motorized, because we know (and trust you) that if you come to a hill you are going to pedal or push, but NEVER... turn on the motor that now no longer exists, well... until you turn the motor on.

 

Snow Summit could be interesting for opening weekend...

 

Well, my friend posted this on FB, and he happens to be a wildland firefighter and instructor. Had me wondering.

Vegetation fire north of Frazier Park in Tejon Ranch.

 

If that's the case I should have kept my WR450! With 12 inches of travel I was not afraid of hitting anything on the DH!

 

Yup! I know exactly where that is. Your friend is heading South on the 99 getting ready to merge with the 5 South. That fire is just West of the small town called Grapevine. It's cattle country at the very southern end San Joaquin Valley. It's bordering on the boundary between Tejon Ranch property and the Wind Wolves Preserve.

So I guess the cattle were lighting up in the field. You know what they say... "Happy Cows are from California!"
