    Ride Name: SART It Up!
    When: Saturday 6/10/17
    Time: 0730, back to car by 1230-1PM at latest
    Where: Santa Ana River Trail Head Angelus Oaks California
    Ride Description or Details:
    Plan is to be in the dirt by 0745 or so and be back to the cars by 1 so it will be a 1/2 day ride. Should be some time for comradely but not much as I plans later in the afternoon. Perfect for those who want to be home early! Most all of you have ridden SART but if you have not, you need to make it happen as this trail is some of the best ST on the West Coast. I'm not much of a technical rider but climb well so the pace should be moderate to fast depending on what you are used to. There is exposure as well as lots of flow and short easy climbs. No rider will be dropped but note the miles and elevation before you jump in.
    ~~~~~ Optional Details ~~~~~
    Meet Location:
    Meet at the Post Office / Restaurant off Hwy 38 in Angelus Oaks. Text Ken for a pin drop and be sure to text me your name and handle please. Really hope to get some takers. This is a great bunch and positive vibe. Let's do this. 909.635.4899.
    Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced
    Ride Pace: Moderate Pace, Fast Pace
    Type of Ride: Lolipop
    Rider Limit: C'mon Out
    Anticipated Mileage: 30
    Elevation Gain: 3500
    Ride Duration: ~ just 4 hours total moving time is pretty fast pace, 5 hours max elapsed time
    Previous Ride Reports: http://www.imtbtrails.com/forum/threads/sart-solo-ride-6-3-17.6149/
    Possible Bail-Outs: Hmmm not so much.
    Facilities: If you need to go big, there are restrooms but not till South Fork
    Food/water suggestions: At least 2 liters. It's not that hot yet but you will be between 4 and 7'000 feet and it's super easy to get dehydrated. I would say carry more than you think you will need. Bring real food not just a bar or Gu. It's a long ride and nothing worse than a Bonk on the long climb out. Bring at least a pump, Co2 and a tube. Chain link is nice to have
    Did this ride 2 weeks ago. Soooo good! Was told no water at SF CG. We did not see any and lugged our own water. 2.5 liters was enough for me.
    Just curious - is there anyplace to park down at the bottom of middle control road, so you can skip the climb out (I hate that Fing climb)?
    I've seen cars parked right there, where the ST meets the fire road.
    Also, Tom The Bomb started a ride from that area or just below, once.
    My lass and my bro (can't ride Sat.) are not up for the pace line; neither am I, honestly, so we gonna mollygag it Sunday or Monday on our own. TAFPU!
    David, not to speak for Ken, but I'm assuming a somewhat brisk pace to accommodate afternoon activity elsewhere.
    One reason we are bowing out is that we want to tack on Wildhorse at the start. Gotta max those petrol dollars. My team is off the couch, so we gonna shuttle either the SART portion or all of it. At the risk of sliming onto Ken's thread here, you are welcome to join us, David. We have up to four going; five would fill us up. :)
    All good guys. I would appreciate those who are in to please commit soon. If I do not have good interest (at least another rider or two) I will likely scrap the invite. Please reply if you are in or not and thanks again.
    Hi David it's not really a fast pace but more a constant one. I would not drop you and would be happy to adjust if needed. Heck for all I know you are faster than I am! It's totally doable within that time frame. Bottom line is if anyone here has not ridden this trail, I highly suggest they make the effort to come out. It is not a trail I would suggest doing on your own unless you know the area. This will be a fun ride, not a race. Hope this clears that up ;-)
    Yes you can park down there we did it before. I'm not opposed to starting there but it sucks to miss out of the PO section so you'd need to climb it anyway. MCR is not that bad you just cruise up it at the end.
    Yes you can take the fire road down to the bottom or drive around via glass road, much longer but no dust.
