Who's Riding Where???

Dang it I'd love to but I kinda over did it today and got family schtuff tomorrow.

 

Intersection GMR/Sierra Madre. 7:30-ish in the am. Up GMR, down MTT. If you wanna come along, let me know. Or just go ride it yourself.

 

Did the hole enchilada yesterday, made it to to end, what a view! Picked up my first tick also.

 

I don't care. Wasn't there, didn't happen.

Whatever? Thinking about heading for Burkhart tomorrow, I believe I found another locals trail to explore off of it, could be nothing I suppose, but I gotta know!

 

Up the road, as in on the pavement? Not climb MTT, descend MTT?

 

Correct. I prefer riding up the pavement. Damn good workout, and don't have to deal with the armored-up dive bombers coming down. Then descend the singletrack and have a great time.

If I'm feeling particularly frisky, I may do it twice.

 

Or shuttle it with a bud and do it three times?

 

Pffft...shuttle??? Not no, but HELL no. Must earn one's turns.

 

I agree if I'm on my HT but not long ago, @Cornholio and I rode our AM bikes there and did it a few times via shuttling.

I like the climb MTT has to offer. Riding up GMR on a weekend is a scary thought with all those crazy car, moto, and long board driver/riders out there!!! BE CAREFUL.

 

So I'm guessing a chairlift is out of the question?

 

I have yet to commit to using the chairlift at Big Bear. There really isn't a need for it. But Mammoth, that's a whole 'nother ball game there.

 

How else can you get 8-10 runs down the mountain.

 

Understood. I avoid the crowds when we stay in BB. I have yet to ride anything inside Snow Summit. There's plenty of other surrounding trails to keep me happy. And if I wanna get a lil rough, there's Exploration trail down in Deerlick.

 

Whiting-Luge-Whiting starting from Wahoos at 1:30 ish today (Easter Sunday). A friend is driving down from LA who is typically late.

I need another GMR/MTT excursion... Not on Easter, though.

 

Some of us wackos have been known to mix pavement and dirt in the same ride! It's a sickness...

I actually liked the pavement all the way past Baldy Village, and then back to the dirt finale... You just can't beat the roadies' looks when they see a single speed mountain bike out there.

 

I have always preached that pavement is the worst thing for mountain bike tires. Grinds 'em down prematurely. However, I am a hypocrite because I ride on pavement to a few of my local haunts whenever I ride from home.

 

Anybody else on spring break this week? I have to work most days, but I can fit in a few rides. I plan to ride tomorrow (Monday) in my back yard (shocking!). I would love some company. Maybe it's time for @sir crashalot to show me chiquito, although the PO might be out of control.

 

iMTBCaliforniaSouthernRailroad.com for a Phase I ESA in Temescal Canyon. The bicycle will streamline my locomotion, pun intended. The former right-of-way is planned to become a recreational corridor for future residents of the thousands of homes forthcoming.

Watch out in Temescal canyon. Years ago we did a study and the landfill out there was sliding out of the canyon...Ride the garbage tsunami!

Santiago Oaks! One of our favorite rides... down cactus, down hawk, down peralta, down yucca, down deer, down mt goat, down barnam, down.. im forgetting something... and to finish it off? down chutes...

 

tour of California coming up soon...they do a stage at GMR... fun to ride Monroe and watch the professionals go up at 20 mph...

 

That was my first experience with MTT....we actually climbed up GMR, then descended MTT....but we had the excuse of dragging 2 full B.o.B. Trailers up there.

 

Daughter duty this morning. Can ride this afternoon.
