The Santa Anas have vehicle traffic for close to 40 miles of Main Divide. The Motorway is right off the road, and the first few hundred yards are wide enough for a vehicle to get to the helicopter pad. Jackasses think that gives them the right… Or they’re just too stupid to realize it’s a trail.

I’ve had words with moto riders at the top who thought they could use it…

I'm a day late for my I-didn't-ride report, but yesterday I ceded my short time before work so that my lady could do her first mtb ride in 6 months since having shoulder surgery. She probably could have gotten out before now, but inertia had set in, and she'd kind of lost that sense of urgency to ride. One ride was all it took to reignite the fire. She was so pumped when she got back, and I was stoked to see it. Worth it.

Been in Long Beach for the week to avoid the heat. It’s been about 70-ish and overcast most days. Back at home I think it’s been in the 90’s.

Both my org and my wife’s agency observe Juneteenth so we set out on the bikes for the day.
About mile 4, we roll-up to a red light and I go to seize up the pedals ( fixed/no brakes) the left crank stops but the drive-side crank arm keeps rolling.
I had to drag my feet flintstones style to stop.

turned out I’d stripped the crank arm.
We still spent the day shopping and eating. Walked the bikes back at the end of the day. I’ve known for years these cheap cranks should be replaced. Lesson learned.

Cuzz the wifeys car was in the shop which meant she had to drive my truck today so she went to Home Depot and bought a patio set with a fire pit and I just had to assemble the damn thing today. Thanks to the terrible instructions the first chair took probably an hour to assemble but the remaining 3 took about 20 minutes. Fire pit took an additional beer to put together. Happy wife happy life...

Because the dumbshit at Dunkin didn’t put the lid on my coffee cup tight enough which spilled all over my hand when he handed it to me. Mild burns to a couple fingers…..not sure why coffee needs to be the temperature of hot lava.

we’ll see how it feels today.

Yes. Don’t make me tell another story…trying to forget that one.

Bummer, Jason. I’m surprised your reaction was not to immediately eject the burning beverage back across the counter at about sternum level. That can happen, ya know. :geek: Speedy heals!

Hopefully better than my "snowmobiling home in the dark and running into a gas company cable" story. Thankfully it only sheared off the handlebars, and caught me in the chest. I wasn't going that fast. I don't know how, but as I was falling my forearm hit the homemade exhaust. The worst was getting home... Having to get off every now and then to kick the skis in another direction. The buried corn rows kept it mostly straight back to the house... :Roflmao The burn mark lasted a few years...

Man... My brother was pissed when I showed it to him in the morning... :devilish:

I really did some dumb stuff as a kid. I blame youthful stupidity and alcohol.

At the "new" sports complex? At least you're closer to Jimmy Johns than Subway...

Coffee shop right next door... Bodhi Leaf (sp.?)... I always stopped for a cappuccino when I was close.

As mentioned elsewhere, I decided to try surfing again after nearly a year off. I wasn't real successful, but it was a great workout, and I shared the waves with some dolphins. Today was paying my dues for returning to the water. Mt. biking is a more reliable sport. Picture running alongside your bike and occasionally trying to jump on it, but rarely being successful. If unsuccessful, you turn around and run your bike back to the top. If successful, you get to ride for 8-10 seconds before you have to get off and go up again. That's what surfing is like for me.

But it really is unbeatable exercise for one's body! From a visually attractive perspective, surfer bodies beat cyclist bodies all day (at least for us boys)!

    Cuz…I drove today.

I’m supporting some old friends on their full Tahoe Rim Trail through-pack. They have 14 days to do 165 miles at a low-stress pace. I shuttled them up to Mikie Watson Lake and we celebrated the start and set up camp for the AM start.

I’m having fun being a trail angel after being the recipient so many times.

I’m hoping to head out on bike and meet them. Whipping out cold beverages on unsuspecting friends in the BC is an old specialty.:cool::cool:
