The lower link suspension works really well! And the Nomad has always had a reputation as a slug to climb. I am guessing without seeing it yet that the reviews are better than ever in this category.

    And I too love 27.5!

I wonder if they might compare to a certain CO brand with 165/170mm travel 27.5?

The reviews I have read and watched are all good — so far. I do love Santa Cruz .... my first mountain bike and all.

27.5 is clearly superior ... until proven otherwise. You and I might be amongst the last of the holdouts .. and I am OK with that.

    Bring it.

Rode the 2016 nomad when I went to whistler, changed what I wanted to ride, I didn't think it was a terrible climber. At home I ended up with the Bronson... Bet the new one is a trail owner!

I have never so much as even considered a 29er. In the end, 27.5 will win. Resistance is futile.

Them's just jokes. 29 will probably win. That said, I do not care what standard emerges. I am perfectly happy on 27.5 ... and unless it disappears like 26, I will ride it until it dies .. and along the decline I hope to prove more than a few wrong.

My 27.5 is confidence inspiring, forgiving and fun. And my times were faster on it when I thought I was going slower than the Megatower. I do realize that 29ers are faster though, and cover more ground for the money. The mullet truly is perfect for me. Still slower over long distances, but I don't care.

    I like both colorways.

    I'm also a 27.5 devotee. Same as I was with 26" wheels.
I really don't want to ride a bike where the wheels almost go up to my crotch. I also don't understand how other guys with shorter inseams can enjoy them so much.

I'm not so sold that the Nomad is all that relevant any more. I mean up til today, you really hadn't heard much about them. With super capable 140-150mm bikes these days, are people actually clamoring for a big bike like this? Even the Pinkbike review I watched said if you want an enduro race rig, look elsewhere.

I guess for park days it might be an option, but I just don't see a 180/170 bike as super common these days.

Edit: who am I kidding, these are going to be all over Whiting and the Oaks.

I love having a variety of wheel sizes. A single size is lame. Twenty six inch bikes should still be a thing even.

27.5 is all I have known. I have only been riding since very late 2014. I don't know, for sure, that 29 is faster or 26 is slower. All I know right now is that I am currently one with my bike, and that is a great feeling. It took awhile, but there are no more surprises.

Bahahaha. I am a better climber than you (and who cares about climbing), but I will never be a faster downhill rider than you ... especially on the technical downs. I started at 44 and missed the brave/stupid years. My 50 year old brain will never allow me go as fast as my athleticism wants me to. However, it will still allow me to have all kinds of fun. There is no part of me that wishes I had started this sport at 24 instead of 44 ... but then again, I also have no broken bones.

I didn't start going fast downhill on a mt bike until I was 46. But mtb is pretty slow compared to ski racing! (And I wasn't a DHer - just SL, GS and SG).

I was a skier from about 8 to 10 in Utah. I remember looking for places to fall instead of holding onto it and just riding it out. Same lesson applies to riding bikes. In the early days I was just looking to crash. Many similarities with the two sports.
