We spent the day filming and riding the Ramona Downhill trail over at Thomas mountain. I captured some mountain bike third-person footage from a secondary GoPro hero 8 and some awesome video footage from the DJI Mavic Air Drone. Unfortunately, I made the ultimate mistake of not checking my GoPro settings prior to filming and riding. Everything I filmed from my POV Gopro was in Linear mode with hyper smooth Boost on, Basically, the day was wasted for filming and the footage was 90% unusable. I also captured some third person footage from a secondary GoPro hero 8 and some awesome footage from the DJI Mavic Air Drone. Thankfully I was able to salvage the day bu building this awesome short mountain bike film edit.

This is a great trail; if ridden from the top it’s 5.7 miles of DH single track. Video is well done and brings back some fun memories

    Thanks all!
Yeah it was a fun trail, It was however not fun to climb up haha. We shuttled 2 runs but had to climb back up, The roads are a bit messed up so it took just as long to drive up as it did to ride up.

Call me cautious....And I may be in the minority.....

but are you here to for the purpose of promoting your YT channel?

just asking because you have 3 threads....all of which are just videos.

maybe if you engaged in other discussions, not related to your YT channel, I wouldn’t be so suspicious.

Thats an honest and pertinent question.

He might just be a video enthusiast that mtn Bikes. He did note that "the day was wasted for filming", as it may be his job.
Most people film while riding, not ride for filming.

Anyway, join in the banter Rad Dad, and maybe one of the rides posted up.
You might be able to give some tips on how to improve the GO Pro video that the guys here do..cause I can't.

Honestly Yes and No, i do engage in other threads when I have something to say. I do read more than I comment. Funny enough i found this forum because someone had posted my video here at some point and I found it in my analytics.

Riding is primary, my actual 9-5 is in photography retail, so its fun to go film with new toys that come out sometimes. I plan on joining in the banter, and if anyone is ever out here wanting to ride, feel free to hit me up, there's some fun trails out here and the Palm Canyon Epic Trail is my local ride haha.

    Very cool.
I've never done the PCE, but it's a destination ride for a lot of the riders here. Nice local trail for sure.

Im in the palm springs area occasionally for work, but never have the time to ride. I think that's going to have to change....

@MTB Rad Dad: What are your favorite desert cicuits or networks in the area? I'm familiar with PCE variants already. TIA.

@mike The Goats Area in Cathedral City Cove is awesome. Art Johnson is a super fun trail, Hahn Buena Vista is a 15 min downhill run of pure singletrack. So Many good trails in that one area.

Got ya. AJ and HBV are of course are PCE variants. What are your top ten trails that are not part of any PCE variant, in shape in January? Snow free; the longer and more remote the better. In case a rider was in the area then... TIA.

PS: If the trail is unmentionable, just write "trail x"

Sadly I think PCE is probably the most remote we have here for the valley. We have though about starting at the top of toro peak and coming down sawmill trail and then connecting that to PCE.

TFPU. Yep, that Sata Rosa extension looks good; is loosely penciled for later this year before snow flies.

I'll be looking for the covert goods out there in Jan, and @evdog will be on my sh¡t if I keep repeating great routes. Straight up, I want the hard, secret stuff minus the kid stuff (jumps) and I'm willing to share the same and then some wherever I go. I think that's how it works. Tap your crew and show me what you got – see you this winter with a hardon to get it done. :)
