Yeah, but you walked out. That makes you a much more studly manly man. I tried, but at my rate, it would have been way past dark, so I got a comfy ride off the hill direct to the ER. No muss no fuss. Thanks OC taxpayers!

    Healing rays to you man!

Bummer, man. I feel your pain. It was tough going first few weeks but it’s been 2 months for me and it’s way better. I hope all goes smoothly for you. And I hope yours is last of these for awhile.

The bruise finally stopped growing after 3 days. Surgery tomorrow 3PM...I passed my covid test! This thing very painful at night. Haven't slept much at all since Sunday. Recliner delivers on Saturday, I've had to make due with setting up pillows on the bed to try to keep upper body vertical. I suppose there will be a second peak in pain after surgery, due to installation of the splice plate, re-alignment and aggravating tissue after 5 days. At least ortho set me up with some stronger narco pills.

OUCH. I remember how painful mine were (football), same bone 30 yrs apart. The second one was more painful, however no surgery needed for me either time. I literally "feel" your pain.

Holy Shmoly - you got me beat on the bruise for sure! I was lucky to get surgery 16 hours after breaking it. Hopefully you will find it more comfortable to sleep after you are plated.

@Robbie: That's a beauty – replete with negative surgery scar! Very thoroughly done. But, I'm bummed to hear about the discomfort and lack of sleep. Good luck getting out of the weeds quickly. Be judicious with the meds. Power on... :)

Surgery yesterday, went well. Traded pain of broken clavicle ends and shards digging soft tissue for surgery pain, which I think will pass in 5 days or so. They sealed the sutures with glue, Tick, Herz was that done on yours? Was expecting oozing sutures like I had on an ankle surgery. They said I could shower right away with seal job. Think I’m over the worst, aim to be off narcs in 5 days, only taking afternoon night now

That's one nasty looking injury. Your skin looks like it got torched!

Nah, no glue for my incision - staples. They pulled 'em out in a week.

Best wishes for your return to health, wellness and, of course, bikes!

Staples for me. Removed at 10 days. Got loose like they were piercings...kinda punkrock.

Here is my repair job. Had my follow-up today, PA said its healing good. But I'm not supposed to lift anything more than a coffee cup for another 4 weeks, or reach above my head. Feels pretty good, no more severe pain, the broken rib bothers more than the clavicle.

Looks like one of my jobs...hey, where does this extra screw go??? As long as it works... Heal strong, @Robbie.

The “floating” screw is for fixing a comminuted fragment back to main bone and does not pick up the repair plate. First thing I asked when I saw it!

I just got cleared to return to action this afternoon. The shoulder is still sore but the clavicle is back in one piece. Lots of stretching in my future.

Orthopedic Specialty in Orange does great work. Dr Shepard did the clavicle, Dr Kang put my Achilles back together 6 years ago.

The walls are filled with signed photos & jerseys of pro athletes that have come through there, but one stands out. It’s a fisherman who had some kind of leg injury repaired, and the photo is of him standing on deck putting a tracking tag on a great white.

It’s been 11 weeks since my surgery, I may go out for an easy ride this weekend. Finally! My bike is in tip top shape. Everything is tuned up and lubed to the gills. I did a little ride around the neighborhood this week with my kid in the trailer and I didn’t feel as weak as I thought I would. If I don’t faint as I charge up Mustard hill I’ll be good to go!
