Hello everyone! I ride an ebike, but I swear I'm not an enemy.

Thank you for the insight. I'm confident that I will get better and for sure will be weaned off the motor sooner than later.

Tom, thank you for the reply. At the highest speed setting, its not at all possible for me to go above a somewhat normal speed going uphill. My conditioning and knees simply won't allow it. Tapia Canyon is now on my list although its a little far (I live in Eastvale, a few miles north of Corona). The ultimate goal is to get into good enough shape where I can wean myself off the motor. I realize fully that it is not the same workout. At this point, I am just happy to be pedaling again with minimal pain consequences. If I break a little sweat, that is a huge bonus.

Thank you Redman! I sincerely hope to see you out there! Life is too short to stick with negativity. God knows I have been guilty of it.

Thank you Faust29! I try to stand when I can precisely because of the pain from sitting too long. My biggest problem is the instability on my knees. I actually visited my ortho today and got fitted for a new brace. I am hoping it alleviates some of the pain. I will try your technique though to help me strengthen my supporting muscles for sure (quads and hamstrings). I'd rather sweat on the bike then going to the gym if I could.

Thanks for the welcome! I have added El Moro, Tapia Canyon and Main Divide to my list of destinations. This is exactly what I have been hoping to get from joining the community. Tips on where I can ride as well as tips on HOW I can ride;-)

You know what @Frank I’ve personally concluded that you’re a good dude and not here to cause problems... I know I as well as many others here have their guard up a bit when in comes to the big “E” topic.

I tell you what if you ever make it out my way I’ll give you a tour of Tapia, assisted bike or not. This is a GIGANTIC departure from the normal me. Seems like you’ve got the right attitude and the right reasons for what you’re doing. Like others have said fire roads ain’t bad. I’ve personally ridden thousands of miles on them and tell you they sometimes lead to some bitchin places...

Unless there is some very late breaking news, El Moro is not open to motors:

El Morro / Crystal Cove is not open to E-bikes. As others here hav pointed out, not much in OC other than fire roads and a very few trails are. Same for much of LA County. E-biles are legal for most of SCV, but not Towsley or East Canyon. They are legal in any city open space or at Tapia (private). The NPS (park service) and BLM view e-biles as bikes with no differentiation so where bikes are allowed by the NPS (not many places) and BLM, e-biles are allowed. BUT, the USFS, to the best of my understanding, still does not allow e-bikes on non-motorized trails. USFS only allows them on fire roads, paved roads and OHV trails as I suspect most here would support. I expect that USFS will eventually align with the other government agencies for simple consistency.

So, if you stick to fire roads, BLM land and many private areas or regions that specifically allow e-bikes like SCV, you'll be fine. Like you Frank, I've become less popular here because I have an e-bike, moto and love my Ibis Ripley pedal bike. I know they still love me though ;). As others have said, hang in there. This is a great group. As with the trails, be respectful, yield and know that riding an e-bike means treading lightly around hikers, equestrians and harder-core bikers. I applaud you for your approach here and maturity in carefully wading in.

And El Moro seamlessly transitions to LCWP where they are not allowed. Old Emerald Falls (BVD) is half El Moro/Crystal Cove and half LCWP I believe. I have no problem with motorbikes on fire-roads regardless.

It does capture the silliness of current epistemological trends. It made me laugh, then it made me sad that we can only tell the truth in the form of heavily veiled humor.

I rode the Intense Tazer a few weeks ago. Cool bike, but the motor is just to whiny. It’s legal to ride in Bako, so no laws were broken. But I am a bicycle purist, but when the rep hands me a $7000 bike to go ride......A6A02465-AF91-4545-9EE5-E4E76F72B140.jpeg

I towed my son in his trailer on my HT while my wife followed on her e-bike. We did a 12/1,240 ride. Watching her smile enjoying the freedom of the outdoors and climbing hills behind us was the best feeling/emotion I had felt in a long time. I'm beginning to understand the argument of the freedom it gives some riders.

I still maintain my position that they are not for me and will continue to sweat out pedaling myself or with my son in tow.

I will have another "person powered" bike hopefully in the near future. But until my knees get better and I can get in better condition my ebike is my means of freedom.
