Three cases of MRE's (36 meals total), unopened, pack date 12/2013. (6 years old)

Had these in a cool interior closet for earthquake / zombie apocalypse use. Since we're moving, don't need them any more. For you vets/hunters out there, you know MRE's will easily last ten years if you keep them cool (15 if refrigerated). MRE web sites say you should replace them every five years... because they are in the business of selling MRE's :)

Price is... FREE. They cost about $110 per case new. These are the real deal, with the chemical heaters, etc.

    Pickup in Laguna Hills.

I’ve used em a couple of times on climbing missions. In the right conditions, delicious.

If some dirtbag inquires, it’ll be my buddy Kristoffer. :)

I was going to use some of them on a backpacking trip to Catalina. Great that you can just toss one in your pack, and you know you are set. Just need water.

Generally, a MRE contains the following items:
    • Entree - the main course, such as spaghetti or beef stew
    • Side dish - rice, corn, fruit, or mashed potatoes, etc.
    • Cracker or bread
    • Spread - peanut butter, jelly, or cheese spread
    • Dessert - cookies or pound cakes
    • Candy - M&Ms, Skittles, or Tootsie Rolls
    • Beverages - Gatorade-like mixes, cocoa, dairy shakes, coffee, tea
    • Hot sauce or seasoning - in some MREs
    • Flameless Ration Heater - to heat the entree
    • Accessories - spoon, matches, creamer, sugar, salt, chewing gum, toilet paper, etc.
Each MRE provides an average of 1,250 calories (13 percent protein, 36 percent fat, and 51 percent carbohydrates) and one-third of the Military Recommended Daily Allowance of vitamins and minerals. A full day's worth of meals would consist of three MREs.

Heck, I'll bite. Always wanted to see if they're any good and I think my kids will love them. I'll take them all if no one else wants some, otherwise I'll take at least a case.

Broke open the first one, #15 Mexican Style Chicken Stew. Picked the one most likely to be gluten free for one of my kids. Ingredient list is inside the sealed outer package so it's guesswork which has wheat-free selections until you open it.

Ate the crackers, not bad except I didn't notice beforehand the trans fats. M&M's definitely taste 6 years old but it is chocolate. No one wanted to try the cheese filled pretzels or the cheese sauce.

The rice and beans side was less appetizing. The rice mush had a frightful consistency although the beans survived. The real surprise was the Mexican Chicken Stew. My daughter asked for my portion and loved it. Could not tell the age on the stew, tasted like normal canned food of reasonable freshness.

    Thanks Greg.
