Wind kicked up pretty strong and even got a couple raindrops as I left downtown Long Beach at 5 pm.

 

Well that's unusual - and quite apocalyptic in a way.

 

Man, I hope the Aye Empty Beers up here with plans for the Tahoe Rim called it off today. Not bike riding weather. Rain, frozen rain, wind all over the area. The Rim has to be getting pounded.

 

Weather is taking a turn for the worse down here too. Saturday it was over 100° and today it's only 88!

 

Was this unexpected? I got an email from Edison that they have proactively shut off power to Mammoth Lakes, or at least our area of it, due to hazardous weather conditions. NWS shows a pretty benign forecast of sunny and breezy (20mph with 40mph gusts). Pretty tame by Mammoth standards, but I assume there is more than meets the eye.

"Aye Empty Beers". Nice, that one took me a sec. Was trying to figure out what autocorrect had misinterpreted to come up with that.

 

I think Edison is just doing the CYA thing in light of the PGE fiasco up north last year. They sent us a letter stating they will be shutting off our power due to high winds this fire season. Here in Simi Valley that could be daily.

The system was in the forecast, but it seemed like it intensified in the 36 hours before it hit. Started as a chance of rain, ended up 80% with .25 to .5" rainfall totals.

Big wads of slush were falling an hour ago – now the sun is intermittently peeking through. But it looks like it will be unsettled for days to come.

You Eye Empty Beers up here should be stoked. Worth missing a day to have the dust tamped down. Bust out the foul weather gear and hit it tomorrow. I'd join ya if I could...

Poured rain at my house this morning at 11:00am for about 20 minutes according to Cathy.

 

Sounds like it was on their way to Kings Beach.

Looks from Truckee as though the worst is over. Sunny even.

 

That's some pretty serious CYA. Apparently the outage is for the whole town of Mammoth Lakes, is entirely preemptive, and is expected to last well into tomorrow. They have some sort of community outreach vehicle deploying to the Vons parking lot tomorrow morning to answer questions. Never heard of or experienced such a thing up there.

It's humid and 84° in Simi Valley.

 

We have it easy here. Parts of AZ are under water. Flooding has been widespread there this week.

It's been all cloudy, all day here, and muggy. A few rain drops here and there but not enough to get the ground wet.

Good sweaty riding weather. Get out there!

 

Poured at Disneyland for a bit earlier today, nothing at home in Orange and my lawn could use it.

 

This weather is lovely!

 

Been relaxing all morning long. Just a lil' while ago, I got myself together to get stuff done. I go up on the roof to remove an old satellite dish and the sky opens up on me.

Rain turned to snow in Truckee. Never broke high 40s. Supposedly a few inches of accumulation by Monday.

Whatever dust is left on the trails will be turned to velcro.

 

I figured that...and I can't do that. That's why it's amazing.

 

Perfect drizzly riding weather today. High of 70.
