If we didn’t have to stop to answer their calls for help we would have beat them back.
It might be the only time I was glad to be ditched by a group.

Love to join but understand rewarding regulars & rider count constraints. Over eating & drinking, staying at a motel & driving home next day seems ideal for me. Can handle toned down rip or spirited lollygagging. Will keep an eye on your shenanigan planning.

going to really try this time. but I do have a heavy schedule so only time will tell. I squandered tonight so the clock is ticking. That sucks because I will not get those four hours back

On the fence, need some calendar checking and might want to stay a night to make the drive worthwhile.
Not the biggest tech fan. Can someone give me a tech comparison to an OC trail I might know?

Feeling a little nervous about the “plunge” part:confused:

    Okay!
    I have an idea!
Naturally I want EVERYBODY to go!
How about this for a plan.
    We all shuttle together, everyone.
At the Trailhead we get some sweet group pics. We break up into what we "think" we best fit for a Team A and Team B.
Someone on each team MUST have a Computer with the route on it. We all take off. The folks that gravitate to the front with a bit more pace will naturally move to the front. Eventually those that become uncomfortable with the pace can drop back into the Peleton, BUT NOBODY GET"S DROPPED!
This way folks that want to stretch can stretch and if it gets to be too much then it's safe to fall back.

    How is that?

Edit: This "could" be a Forum discussion in it'self. I have taken a lot of heat for group rides in the past and have always tried to figure out a way to make the ride for all levels of ride pace and current skillset.

    Addition:
Each team must have a ride leader and a Sweep Rider.
    Why do I say this?
Because this is being organized on imtbtrails and I want to make sure that everyone is taken care of and finishes the ride.

This ride leader is equipped with a set of two way radios as well. So whoever wants to help me with the second group and take turns leading and sweeping will be assigned a radio.

Sounds like a plan. Maybe multiple regrouping within each group, with perhaps one mid-way for everyone (around the meadow/old farm seen in the photos?).

if I remember, the plunge part was not that techy.. it was the upper beginning section that was a bit techy.. but nothing you can't handle...
I can handle everything b/c I know how to walk!!! (actually some places, not Cannell, I can't even walk down....)

There is one switchback on the plunge part that has gotten me both times... sort of a rock wall that drops into a hard left. :cautious:

There is also a nasty little climb on the plunge portion. Although it probably seemed nastier with my choice of gearing...

By the time one gets there, the bottom feels hardest on the route. I watched my buddy go down hard in a moment of unfocus. Don’t let it get ya. :geek:

The Plunge has some techy spots along the way. they are all ridable or walkable. However it was much chunkier than I had remembered.
