I'm running an Aggressor on the back of my "DH" wheelset and it is sh¡t for climbing traction. The Dissector looks like it would hook up a lot better.

Very interested in this as a rear. Gotta burn through a couple others first...

I also have a Aggressor tire, front and rear, but I love mine. Might not be climbing the same type of stuff Ed is doing. But mine hook up. Looks similar to my new Bonty XR4 tire.

    Ditto that.

Maybe with a pressure caveat. What pressure and rim you running, Ed? I'm on i35 x 29 at mid 20s. It kept turning yesterday on polished rocks coated with dust as confidently as any tire in recent memory. In loose dirt it might have trouble compared to a paddle tire like DHRII. The coil shock on my bike has done more for my climbing traction than any tire I can think of, FWIW. Of course a wider rim profile will get more out of a 2.35.

29×2.5WT on i34 at 20psi. I may have exaggerated as far as traction goes. It just doesn't hook up as well as I think it should. It's usually the steep loose over hard that gives it trouble.

I hope the Aggressor is good ... the bike shop guy talked me into putting one on the rear instead of the DHR2 I was originally going to buy.

Got ya, I too would demand a beastly tire like that deliver performance. Almost makes me wonder if the 2.35 would work better. I’m pretty sure that size is commonly being spec’ed on trail bikes from a few big mfrs. I’ve run big tires in the rear but mainly because I’d ride Yeager Mesa often. Unless I’m trying to ride steep dirt like that, I’ll keep the rear’s size in check. Seems to work no worse on my terrain with a wide rim, is lighter with more mud clearance. $.02

@Obsidian, like to hear your thoughts, but I’ll wager a good rating for all-around riding.

It's on my other wheelset. I wanted big and fat to replace my 27.5+ setup. But yeah just like the plus tires it's probably too much tire for those conditions. However point it down hill and all is forgiven. It along with the 29×2.5WT DHF gives my short travel XC bike a magic carpet ride in the chunkiest of chunk.

I replaced my DHRII with an Aggressor. No issues with it. I've got a 2.3 mounted on a 30mm ID rim. At 190 lbs, running it at 20 PSI.

Oaks, San Juan, Aliso, Palm Canyon....traction has not been lacking.

Good to know. I run 20 PSI at 180 for the rear. I feel like San Juan is the one trail I want no level of unpredictability on. I will be testing the new tire up there on Friday.

For the Aggressor- Are you running the 120 tpi or the 60 tpi? Is the extra wt worth it?
    Thx

Are we running out of cool names for tires?

“No Biff, but about ready to. I have had this Dissector on my bike for about an hour now and I’m getting bored.”

That's me. It's rare that I use a tire for more than 50% of its life. It's even rarer that I replace said tire with the same one. My Goodyears are the first tires I've worn out and replaced them with the same tire.

Im such a tire junkie im always trying differnt ones. Right now switching back and forth between front 2.6 dhr 2 (w/trimmed center tread) for local stuff , or wtb verdict up front for running springs/big bear trails (sick tire in deep loose, too squirmy on hardpack/rock) Tried a bonty xr5 up front, didnt like it there too round with small side knobs, figured id put it on rear when my rear dhr 2.4 wears out...then saw the dissector. Dangit, must..not...give...in...to...addiction...

    Wrong.

That would go more like this:

"Oh hey Chad... good day, eh?"

    "Hey Biff, good day."

"Okay so Chad, have you tried out the new Baconator, yet?"

"No Biff, I was like waiting to pick up some brewski's first, I would have thought you would know that, you hoser!"

"Hey TAKE OFF CHAD! You're a hoser."

    "No YOU are the hoser!"

"You're such a hoser Chad! Give me the Baconator's and I will try them myself!"

    "Take off Biff!"

    "Take off Chad!"

"Give me back my tuque Biff, you suck!"

"You gave it to me you, Indian giver! You're such a hoser, take off!

I believe mine is the 60 tpi....EXO/TR version.

To get the 120 tpi you have to bump up to the Double Down(DH) casing....I have no need for that.

Hmm I am "pro-aggressor" good climbing / all around running about 24 perhaps I will drop a bit, I have noticed if over inflated a bit can slip on the tech climb but as long as I keep it in range ... fine

I did air mine up to 24psi recently for the road ride to the trails. I'll drop it back to 20 and see if that helps.
