Not sure if any of you are in the AEC industry but figured it couldn't hurt to ask. The firm I currently work for is dissolving in the next few months due to my boss retiring (he's 76). Initially the timeline was by the end of the year but things have changed and I need to find a new jobby job by the end of August. If any of you have any connections in the industry and can help it would be much appreciated. I live in OC so anything within a 30min drive of Laguna would be preferable.

My current skill set includes the following:

    • 14 years of Revit experience and knowledge. I've on-boarded a couple of teams on the software over my career
    • Schematic Design
    • Design Development
    • BIM (building information modelling) which is basically pre-construction problem solving
    • Navisworks
    • Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign and little bit of Illustrator
I can send my resume to whomever my be able provide some connections.

    Thanks in advance

Good luck. I don't have a connection but if there is lag time between this job and your new one - more time to ride your bike!:thumbsup:

    Yo Taylor.
A very good friend of mine is head of architecture for a national builder.
I'll see him this weekend and can give him your number and/or resume.

Whether he does hiring I do not know, but it's a good connection for sure.

As a plus he is a mtb'er and I ride with him often.

    Taylor,

I work with a bunch of folks from Psomas, they may have slots in what you're looking for; somewhat incestuous relationship with our city retired engineering staff and them. Check 'em out. Also KOA ( https://www.koacorporation.com/ ).

I'll do some asking around on Monday.

That'd be awesome. I'd really appreciate that Dan! DM me your email and I'll send my resume over to you. I don't think I have it anymore or if it's probably an old one.

That'd be great Mark. I'd really appreciate it. I'll check out Koa as well. Thank you!

'twas a good run for you there - both times.

Not sure what I'll do if I don't see your truck out front the two times a month a get home before you are finished riding!

However, you are already ahead of the game with two references from Dan and Mark. IMTB rocks!

For sure. Lee's the man and was/is for now a great mentor who taught me a lot in the design realm. A tough boss at times but more than fair. Will miss working under his leadership once this era ends.

As for Dan and Mark coming through I had no idea about their possible connections. Awesomeness. Never hurts to ask!

Funny story, I had to do an resume for the first time in 20 years a few months ago.
OMG.... Go on a website, answer a few questions and "poof"!! A finished resume pops up that's better than I could have done. Best $2.95 I've ever spent.
Didn't have this magic voodoo stuff back in those olden days.

Now where's a dime?, I need to find a pay phone and make a call.

I mentioned Revit to my wife and she raised an eyebrow...she’s at a small engineering shop though, and ~90% residential with light commercial here and there. These other posts sound like better matches.

Good to have an in-demand skill set...

That's classic. Didn't realize a service like that existed. It obviously work though!

Good looking out Tick. Appreciate it. Revit is what autocad use to be in the AEC industry as your wife could tell you. I was fortunate enough to make the jump towards the beginning of my career with Revit. That software has helped me pay the bills since then even though it's a love hate relationship.

Many of her clients still send her AutoCAD, my high school daughter is making decent pocket money this summer helping with some simple 2D edits and revisions. But for the higher end remodels and multi family work, everyone has seen the future...and while my daughter enjoys the spending money, she’s now decided against Civil as a career. I had been hoping the two of them would hang a shingle and let me retire...

    I eat Psomas for breakfast!

    How it goes @tbarnesarc ?

Psomas translates to “the bread” or “bread man”

@tbarnesarc did get a nice new job, paying more than his previous and not too far away. Just thought I would report out, since DDD inquired and Taylor isn't checking in here very often.
