Well... I guess I'm not going to do it this year. Shoot. I was kind of looking forward to it as a good ride to do before True Grit the following weekend.

First time ever... amazing! We're usually around 300. 400 was the cap we put on based on the amount of food we could cook/serve. Weather is looking rainy for that weekend on the quite long range forecast. That suppresses beer sales!!!

Great you're in!!! I saw your name on the list, and processed it as the other J Martin from Orange County!

We're going to have to do some serious trail reconnaissance and check for erosion from this storm. The city trails should all be fine, but the NFS ones in the foothills are a big unknown.

I got in, but one of my buddies didn't sign up in time. I think he delayed signing up hoping that it would sell out since it kicked his butt last year.

    Routes are posted: https://www.stradarossa.com/2019/02/routes.html

As mentioned in the posting, the trails have been hammered by the storms this winter. Yucaipa Ridge has received nearly 15 inches of rain! That coupled with the Valley Fire this fire means a LOT of runoff and erosion. No rain between now and the second is good news for us though, and we are planning on the routes staying as posted!!!

I hope to see some of you on the second, I might actually get to ride the 100km route this year!!!

A LOT of trail work has been done this last week and weekend... https://www.instagram.com/redlands_strada_rossa/

Dry weather between now and then means the trails are going to be primo!

Possible rain on the day of means bring a rain jacket and gloves!

Route looks great! David, can you tell us what mile points the SAG stops will be at? I'm assuming I'll miss some of the later ones.

Also, if the registration is open Friday night can I start riding early? (On Saturday am :Roflmao). And if I miss that, what time would it open on Saturday morning?

    Thanks

Hi Evan, which route are you doing? The SAGs differ a little based on the route.

An email is going to go out tonight/tomorrow with all the details. If you can't pick up Friday evening, check-in usually opens at 6:00, with the first wave leaving @ 7:00. It goes pretty quickly.

There is no requirement to leave at any particular time, but the SAGs are timed based on when participants are estimated to be there.

BTW, My recommendation is to park in the neighborhood near the finish, and roll downhill to the start. That way your vehicle is waiting for you at the end.

I'm doing the 90. And will probably be slower than everyone else, hence wanting to start earlier.

I saw that it ends in a neighborhood. Figured this event would have way too many people to park there.

Not liking that rain prediction; looks like 40% showers all day, but only .1-.2 inch.
    Hopefully that fades away.

Could easily change. There was no rain in the 10 day forecast a few days ago when I signed up.

Yeah, I'm a bit worried about the weather, but I'm hoping it will be like last year. Cloudy and drizzly, but not really raining. The trails will be dried out though, presuming no precipitation Wed or Thurs.

As for SAGs on the 90, they will be at (approx) mile 21.2, 31.9, some spot again at 54.4, 63.8, and 76.5.

    SAGs on the 60 are at 16.2, 26.9, 35.2, 47.9, 57.8, and 86.4.

    On the 40 at 16.2, 26.9, and 34.7.

Ride with GPS used to let you put those on the map, but that is now a premium feature, la-te-da!

No, not at all. A few low spots that may pool, but are easy to ride around:

    47151944831_b5d61beb0f_b.jpg

The BIG concern is if the rain comes in early and heavy, and San Timoteo Creek flows back onto the trail. That would cause us to re-route onto roads, and take out one of the really nice through trails. I don't think that will be an issue though, as we are going there first thing (miles five through eight on the short and medium routes). The stream crossing on Mill Creek (30.7 on s/m routes) could get too high to ride/walk through, but there's a work around we're already going to offer.

It might end up being pretty nice... I like a light rain. As long as it's not pouring, it'll be fine!
