Also to keep them from being frozen to the windshield in thaw-freeze cycles like we often get up there. Took alot of work today to break the ice so I could get the rear hatch open.

Big Snow event tonight in the PNW! Everyone is freaking out! it snowed hard last Sunday and schools were cancelled Monday and Tuesday. Snow is still on the ground and more in the forecast. This apparently is very unusual. Generally it will snow and then melt and not snow for a month or two after.....

My Buds and I are planning a ride tomorrow in some fresh powder hopefully!!

By 10 PM tonight, there is a lot of snow as stage 2 revs up ...4-6 inches around Seattle and more to the east. There is going to be a region of heaviest snow where the moist flow off the Pacific converges with the cold flow coming out of the north.

I use the Nasty Weather Service. They do an acceptable job of forecasting down to the zip code or map pinpoint "clicked-on" location. But you will not get a long range forecast (more than 5 days) for any area.

Keep an eye on mountain-forecast and let me know how it compare to your known sources. It seem to be pretty accurate for my uses.

It's weathering in Laguna right now. Local trails still closed.

East ski area at Mt. High now open for the first time in five years. 1600' vertical per run on a high speed quad lift.

I saw a report on the news last night about this. They said that the runs are steeper and longer on that side.

Sheesh... much easier running in the rain than biking in it - at least until Holy Jim and Trabuco are opened up. Even Harding is getting a little mucky (at least at the bottom). Guess Maple Springs is the only game in town?

Real slow lift, but go check out Mt. Baldy... that's the goods! Once every decade they have some good snow there!

Truth. When baldy is deep there is nothing close in all of so cal. Maybe even all of California. Steep chutes, nice rock faces and long runs especially if you go to the bottom. Just gotta now how to get to them.

Agree totally,...most skiers/snowboarders are quick to dismiss baldy but if we have enough snow and the right conditions those chutes to the parking lot are world class!!

    Hmmmmm....

My only hesitation (other than the slow lift) is the access road. I've never been there, but I've heard stories. Even the website says "the roads are a mess."
