Really hard to tell in the vid that he got so injured; looked like a normal small bif, just landed on his arm wrong. But he had to put the deformed limb in at the end of the vid. Total style points for not running straight for Mom & Dad

 

Hope they set it straight!! I assume so.

 

You know someone is going to be fine when the first order of business is getting the photo right. Extra credit with the chicks and social media fame!

 

Haha, that’s awesome, tough kid! When my youngest injured his wrist skateboarding we just told him to walk it off..a few days later we had it x ray’ed and found out it the bone was squished...how does that even happen!?

 

I think it's called "inertia." Irresistible force meets immovable object - something has to give.

Seriously, this photo brings me almost to tears. I taught my daughter how to bike... and on her first day of biking on Aliso Creek trail, she ran off the trail, hit a rock, and broke her arm so that it looked exactly like the OP's photo. She did require surgery, several pins, and a night in the hospital because they had trouble with her anesthesia. She has never biked since Makes me feel like a fail dad.

 

That's a painful story, Greg. I can understand how you feel, but biking is dangerous. Usually we get lucky, sometimes not – not dependent on your ability to parent.

PS: A failing dad is one that does not allow a kid to make decisions and grow from experience. I see way more damage from that in kids.

 

IMHO you did the right thing Dad, too many parents are over cautious and downright fearful that their kids might get hurt ....they never get them out to do what we naturally did everyday as kids..things happen, she’ll have a cool scar and a good story to tell When I was a kid I always had scrapes, bruises, a dirty face and a big smile...that’s how it should be!

Don't feel like that Bonsai. I know some of us had parents that didn't want to do ish with us. That's a fail. Have you tried talking her into trying again? She could feel like she failed you.
