I think you probably got enough of an answer, but my opinion would be your FS XC bike. I'm actually considering building a short travel 29er specifically with this ride in mind. It's very much a cross country ride, with a few miles of more technical trail at the beginning and at the end if you finish with Porcupine Rim. There is quite a bit of fire road and even some pavement miles as well, though, especially on day 2. If there is no third day shuttle option, the first 17 miles of that route are all uphill on fire road.

So I was trying to figure out away to bring up the Kokopelli trip on mother’s day to my wife.....
I finally I just said”do you mind if on Mother’s Day this year you go visit our daughter in college, and I spend three days on my bike”?

    An epic fail!
She acutely said “if you want leave me at home on mother’s day and go biking you can...... I have been married for too long to miss the nuances.

I might go the week before, or I might just not go.
Is anyone interested in doing it the week before mother’s day?

Do you need me to handle this with Mrs. Kites??? Cathy and I have both forgotten our Wedding Anniversary like 17 out of 24 times. Tell her you will make it up to her. It is Mother’s Day, not Anniversary Day.

Since I’m on a roll here.
Mrs. imtbtrails is going out with us to Moab. She calls it her getaway alone time. She stays in a cabin at the final destination and reads and rides her bike. Says it’s nice to get away and ramble on her own while we hit 3 days of action riding back to her.

The benefit of this is she shuttles the smart ones for a fair fee to the Kokopelli Trailhead that morning, so on Sunday they don’t have to get their bikes sardined in Box Vans and climb on a bus to ride back to Fruita Colorado which adds several hours to your Sunday commute home. Gives her some spending money in Moab and we don’t leave vehicles in a trail parking lot for 3 days. Shuttle will carry 5 riders and bikes! $25 bucks each and yes I have to pay too!

If anyone needs Tailwind for the trip, just hollah! I will bring it with...

Yeah, forgot to mention Valentine’s Day.
I got flowers for Mrs. Watson I think like 3 times. I was instructed to stop doing that. Waste of good money. She hates roses and loves wildflowers. No Valentines dinners out, too crowded! We decided a long time ago that every day is Valentine’s Day.

We remodeled our Livingroom wall this year and added a 8 foot sliding rear door.
So no Christmas presents to each other also.  Christmas present to each other is no big deal either. We go out to dinner for birthdays, but no holiday pressures in this household Evah!

Mrs. Fijirob gave me the hall pass for week 2. Now I need to get my arse back in shape again. I've wanted to do this for awhile. Can't wait.

Mikie, I'll donate $25 to the Mrs. for a ride. And I'll probably need tailwind too.

Is that the Bikerpelli trip? They show Quatro days; May 9-12. Are you esse's are skipping a night out in the red sand desert? This makes a bit of difference 150/3 days is 50 miles aka 1/2 century a day on a mtn bike in the dirt/sand. Quatro days = 150/4= 37 per day. Still sounds like blazing saddles
    Happy epic trails

    Nope! We ride 3 days.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Stay the night at the RV Park in Moab.
Sunday is a transport day back to Fruita. All the bikes are loaded up in Penske Box Vans and hauled back to Fruita while the riders hop on a rented School bus.
So it’s closer to 50 miles a day. I think the actual ride is 142 miles total but I like to to a little extra credit on Day 1. Totally worth it!

    2019 Bikerpelli Wake-Up Call

    f4bef1cb-e4b6-47c3-a307-85e46e6e0767.jpg

You were born for this. It's in your DNA. It's your inner hero. We'll help you find it.

    Happy New Year!
Your best riding season ever starts next week with us - ready to shake off winter & get rolling?

This is your first wake-up call for Bikerpelli 2019 - Registration begins Wednesday, January 16 at 10a Colorado time (that's noon Eastern or 9a Pacific time).

New for 2019 - 9mi of optional tech singletrack! We trial'ed this last year & it was a hit. This year we'll integrate it more with better mapping & timing.

Also new, and this is a BIG one - An addt'l shuttle route on day 3! This will eliminate ALL climbing & basically drop you at the top of Porcupine after a short warm-up that AM.
If you've got the juice you don't want to miss that climb. But if not, we got you.

Historically both rides fill very quickly, often in minutes. If you're on the site at the opening bell you should get a spot - no guarantees, but that's usually how it shakes out.

We'll drop you one more note next week with final details, tips for registering multiple riders and a preview of our 2019 jersey design.

    Trip One - May 2-5 (Thurs-Sun)
    Trip Two - May 9-12
    $539 per rider

Now THAT is an idea than makes sense!
Having ridden 3 epics and a Zilla jaunt in the past 10 weeks is pretty manly for this daddo, so I’ll stay home in case wifey goes into labor 3 weeks early, lest I miss my daughter’s birth as if I were an old world village bumpkin.

Not that I would resist too much if I were kidnapped...:whistling:...dont forget to bring my bike along, preferably the wife’s 29er.
